Why Gumi Jr. Is At Loggerheads With Buhari’s Administration? -By Abdulrahman Yunusa

Dr Ahmed Gumi was a Rtd army, controversial scholar, Gynecologist and political analyst to some extent. He is indeed a man of versatile experience of life, a man with rare exceptional personality though his father was more apt and perfect than him from all angle.

Likewise his father Sheikh Abubakar Gumi, a humble Sunni religious scholar per excellence with mixture of simplicity personality whom his relevance has been witnessed both internally and externally. Gumi is a human being as anyone, he can be right and he can be wrong defending on the circumstances he find himself. It’s quite true he participated in many political occasions of the country but with no intention to gather wealth rather to bring a change with the little he has at hand. Though his abstainance from material world can attest how deep Sufi spirit run in his body, yet to our sight he is a Waliy that none among his principle can match with his personality hitherto.

Well, anyone with deep knowledge of political history with nexus to religious scholarship in Nigerian might not be in short of such famous account that Gumi ( The late one ) of a blessed memory was a figure and faculty in his own in that regard. I said this because the deceased wahabi inclined sheikh was a key actor in such movement to which his contribution to the country can’t escape to root it stem from that particular junction.

Until when he collide with Buhari he have been respectful notable figure in the religio-political realm Nigeria. He contributed a lot to the journey of Nigeria Independence in many ways, being him a religious scholar who have enjoyed an irrefutable rattling reputation from within and outside Nigeria because it has been said even before Nigeria to be autonomous he have been her ambassador to many countries more especially when the topic has nexus with religion attached to it, the probably Gumi would be in company of such journey.

To say Dr gumi is overlapping from the jury of scholarship to that of politics by criticizing Buhari on basis of security debacle by saying ” Lalacewar Kasa laifin shugaba ne wanda yayi shakkun haka munafuki ne ” is injustice of the highest order because he was nurtured from the hand of a fearless saint who had undergone such mixture social reality. Being him a scholar with passion in political criticism is enough to warrant him chance to play both the roles in our society, be an Islamic scholar yet an analyst.

Whoever accused Dr Ahmed Gumi of being so naive due to his relentless criticism against president Buhari is not fair enough to him/herself, far from that. Revisit the past, ask who was his father in the eyes of past Niherian president, take a dekko at his relevance both social, political and most importantly religious in Nigeria at then.

There you will surely find out how he was been denigrated, assauled and finally disengaged under GMBs watch though some analyst have claimed all that had happened against Sheikh Gumi personality was out of GMB’s knowledge. This could be something to consider by others while nothing worthy of such respect by others too.

But that shouldn’t be an excuse, to me, I think. He who promised to rule or govern well, mustn’t have an excuse of being shortsighted over some sensitive matters. If whole Grand Khadi would be suspended, persecuted and later got bashed by some men of lower IQ under your watch yet claim to be unaware of those gory scenes, then I think you are in not anyway better place to called yourself a leader or ruler.

Of the misdoings i mentioned nothing Gumi escaped from, but his shy attitude and unspoken personality is what also made him a victim of the circumstances meanwhile some of detractors claimed he enjoyed such unfavorable treatment simply because of his strong ally to Shehu Shagari of a blessed memory. May Allah be pleased with them all.

Buhari might however enjoy the benefit of doubt but for Gumi jr he won’t enjoy such sumptuous gesture by being exonerated from the thirny allegations he was entrap in simply because till date there wasn’t an apology tender by Bubari to Gumi’s family and because of that I heard that Gumi jr himself outcry that he has heart inside his ribcage so why all the bashings upon his soul for not romancing Buhari and his administration.

To me and you Buhari may be a dear lover and Messiah but in the case of Gumi he would forever be seen as enemy because he sounds callous to his father soul some years back, and only a fool can afford to forget and forgive such a grave mistake against his father personality. And an enemy to father is an enemy to son, only if the son is quite mad or illegitimate product of his beloved father.

Since prior to Nigerian Independence Gumi has been dear ally to all the Nigerian presidents irrespective of their political or religious affiliations until when he dance before Buhari then got persecuted and later suspended from his job. That’s how he was being maltreated by the military regime of Maigaskiya in those days. As I have earlier stated.

Thus, These scenarios can be found in his ( Gumi ) book with Tsiga titled ” where I stand ” a book which they jointly wrote as his life account with Malam Ismail Tsiga for more clarification as a reference to reader. Don’t hate Gumi for being such a staunch enemy to Buhari just like that because Buhari was an enemy to his father the one you revere unconditionally.

So with all wherewithal Gumi jr has in this time, how could you dare expect him to respectfully romance Buhari Administration as he is a drunk. A man whom his regime has been erroneously used to bring his father down yet you feel irritated of him being a political enemy to your Messiah. Please, allow Dr gumi cast sprout his criticism to the direction he deem fit freely without more insult of such.

He is a Nigerian with suffrage right, a sheikh with privilage to cajole large number of audiance and a strong opposition to the current administration, so why not him in a better place to launch the missiles of his criticsm towards the position he feels like when he has all that it takes some to do that dastadardly. I’m with him here, because in Hausa adage the Hausawa says ” Ruwan daya buge ka shine ruwa ” to him Buhari is a disaster whom had being used as an instrument to exacarbeted their life in the most colorful times of their father.

To question Buhari over insecurity is not a grave mistake that one should be persecuted on it basis. We should all beware, politics is a game of interest and Ulama too have such power to intervene in to it.
