Why Things Fall Apart In Nigeria (Part 1) -By Abene Umbugadu Abene
The wound of the 30 months old senseless war looks like being ripped open as the nation is being hunted by the possibility of a religious war with effusion of religious fundamentalism dogging the weak foundation of the nation.

History, hardly repeats itself in a generation. But in Nigeria, it does often. This is because the nation is a country of impossibilities and wonders. Yes, impossibilities and wonders.
What will fail in other countries Wil work in Nigeria? All they work in other countries could take the opposite in Nigeria. The people never learn from history and the axiomatic truth is that a nation that fails to remember its past is bound to fulfill it. A nation that fails to learn from history is bound to perish. But Nigeria, being the irony from God has not. That indifference to the lesson of the past explains why the nation continues to move in vicious circles- one moment attempting to break with the past, another moment, slipping back to the past. Its bumbling and fumbling through times is a story of comical tragedy_ it’s cycling movement like the climatic season is incredible and sometimes alarming.
Since political Independence, Nigeria’s history has been reading bad records and repeating grooves. Often it throws up the grotesque and sometimes re-enacts the bizarre in an interplay of forces that defy simple logic, Yes, Nigeria! That has been her exact posture.
Political experiments since Independence attempt or rather, seem to portray the country as being cursed by God never to sing or enjoy the lyrics of democracy. The event in the country since day one of October 1960. When the nation became Independent has been anything, but inspiring. The consequence today is that an average Nigerian no longer sees himself as his brother’s keeper. But butcher.
Where else can butcher of Nigerian by Nigerian be best explained? If anything it is the failure of national Unity, it is the failure of 15 February,1966. Events precluding the declaration of the state of Biafra have unfortunately brought to the fire, the grim images of the past.
The wound of the 30 months old senseless war looks like being ripped open as the nation is being hunted by the possibility of a religious war with effusion of religious fundamentalism dogging the weak foundation of the nation.
Now, on the national questions,
Why the attitude of Nigerian towards electoral malpractice will hardly change? What is structurally wrong with the Nigerian project package in 1914 and consummated in 1960 as an independent country?
What is wrong with the present Nigeria federation in concept and practice?
In conclusion, governance in chaotic environment is impossible.
Let’s work together to improve Nigeria.
