Wizkid vs Davido: Father breaks silence on feud

The father of Afrobeats sensation Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid, Chief Munir Balogun, has spoken out about the continuing rivalry between his son and fellow musician Davido.

Regarding the matter, Chief Balogun disclosed that he has counseled Wizkid to disregard the provocations emanating from Davido’s fan base, advising him to maintain concentration and eschew needless diversions.

In a Punch Newspapers exclusive, Chief Balogun revealed, “I told my son that he shouldn’t look or listen to whatever the lads who are Davido supporters are saying. The supporters are solely interested on what they can say to get donations and other things.

He explained that fans often seek attention and stir up controversy for their benefit, adding that Wizkid should rise above the noise.

“They are just looking for what they are going to eat and I told him not to pay much attention to them,” he added.

The elder Balogun also mentioned that the rivalry is something he has observed online.

The long-standing tensions between Wizkid and Davido have been the subject of numerous debates among fans, with both musicians being regarded as some of the biggest names in the Nigerian music industry.
