Salisu Idris, a 40-year-old husband, was rumoured to have had his manhood severed by a recent bride named Habiba Ibrahim.

Our correspondent gathered that she did not provide a rationale for her actions. But according to reports, she was taken into custody by the police in Kaduna State’s Zaria district.

After the husband came home from the mosque on May 26 after participating in the early morning Muslim prayers, the tragic event took place.

Idris, a commercial motorbike rider, related his horror, saying that when he was laying in bed, his wife suddenly attacked him with a sharp knife, almost severing his manhood.

But he added that if it weren’t for his neighbour Habiba, whom he married four years ago, who stepped in just in time, would have succeeded in cutting off his manhood completely.

He said he was shocked by his wife’s action.

This was even as Idris narrated further that there was no misunderstanding before his wife’s action.

It was gathered that Idris was immediately rushed to General Hospital, Makarfi from where he was later referred to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria for medical attention.

“I’m more concerned about my health right now and not thinking of remarrying shortly,” he said.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Idris’ mother, Rabi Salisu, who looks after him on the hospital bed, said he had never complained to her about his wife.

“Her parents are worried and are willing to settle his medical bills,” she added.

The Kaduna State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansur Hassan, could not be reached for comments as his telephone indicated that he wasn’t reachable.
