Youth And The Deceptive Slogan Of “Children Are The Leaders Of Tomorrow” -By Abdulrahman Yunusa
As I often say this loudly, whenever I hold the whims and possess the guts to talk about anything that has a nexus with youth, I find it thrilling to describe Youths as those folks who are wandering amidst of their shiny ages, thinking and pondering over the problems of their society and striving hard toward searching the remedy to those bedeviling obstacles.
Well, it often beat my head hard and force me daunt, whenever I recall that I don’t know when exactly do our old political crooks who make politics as a source of their self enrichment to fulfill the long promise they shamelessly took of vacating the mantle of leadership to people of younger age. Perhaps, the sweetness of power as a major player in the world won’t be easily gauge with anything because it’s what the riches and the intellectuals revere the most and crave unflinchingly. And for this they must find it hard to singlehandedly vacate the position and declare it vacante to children of day
Concomitantly, As today, it’s more than half of a century for Nigerian autonomy, and since at the beginning of the political journey the men in power keep the ball of cunning and deception rolling till this very moment. And to keep fooling us they further came with a slogan of ” Children are leaders of tomorrow ” which makes the next day look like a countless years. Sincerely speaking, we find hard and we suffer unimaginable with such antics of theirs and we won’t forgive them for deceiving our poor souls.
Furthermore, It baffles me much when I see an old man that reach 70 years and above is still eying a political seat despite having youth with full potentials and zealous mind at his home doing nothing with their unique potentiality in the course of positive transformation of the society. However, not all of them have such filthy intentions of living and dying in such colorful positions. Meanwhile there some certain respectful folks in exception to which the recent Ben Bruce is part of, Mallam Dr Dan masanin kano of a great memory is also a nice player and perfect example among the rest in that gang and few others to recall.
And this become possible due to their ( Youths ) inability to find a hole within the cave of leadership in which they could hide and deliver their sumptuous task towards developing their communities with the power they possessed unlike the old crooks who lived several decades syphoning our treasury for their own good and that of their families.
Meanwhile it’s obvious to all that in today’s world nothing plays a fast significant role in changing narratives good or bad than power, and very unfortunately their is no vacuum in the power terrain for youth to fill and accommodate, thereby to give and offer their own share in making things better. Because the destructors and saboteurs of the system have succeeded in making the position crowdy with their kids whom most of them have no qualifications worth holding the positions are serving while the rest don’t even inhale the natural air of this world yet their names are brazenly placed in the national, state or local boucher.
However, some may think its not solely through political power we can deliver the changes we have been yearning for, yeah they could be right to some extent because at any place and with the little capacity you have, you can judiciously use to make a little change if you are wise enough to play the game.
But what people mostly tend to forget wittingly or unwittingly is that, politics is the safer way through which one could gain both physical and spiritual power and respect from his fellow men to make a change without being interrupt by the enemies of progress and development. Also, they fail to fathom power is a weapons one can aptly utilize and makes changes they crave for.
The problem behind our failure to ascend in to the political positions are, Nepotism, corruption and the impact of bad governance. These are the set of negative factors that hinder us from being recruite in to the system despite knowing the whole system has been deliberately crashed to the detriment of the rif-raff by the corrupt men in power. As it looks not a new and undebatable issues today that to secure a job today you need to know someone in the institution first and a times you have to bribe the men by faster work towards achieving your goal.
Likewise some of our youths are afraid to be a hunting dogs to the wild beast wandering in the political terrain, and their fair was generated from the spot of how they see their friends are being selfishly and nepostic recruite by those corrupt men in to the power cave, so they believe whenever they are admitted in to the system through that gutter avenue, they lost respect and they lost moral right to speak against the ill practices found therein. I personally get hindered by this obstacles to play in the political game, and also godfatherism fall as another giant stumbling block.
And our young zealous men can’t succumb to withdraw all the fear they had in their minds and approach those old crooks aggressively and throw them out from the corridor of power from outside since they are serving as nothing worthy to keep living there rather they are blockage to development and agents of progress at our world. They simply fail to withdraw the incessant fear they have regarding the elites because majority of them are being fed by those selfish men which fighting them openly will be a tough task to the hands that first fetch from the dirty dish that made the crooks who they are today. This is another hindering factor.
Until we hold the Marx idea of ” The proletariate have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win ” with high esteem and regard. And he further opined that revolution is the only way out to our suffering, for the bourgeoisie and those merciless elites won’t allow the society to thrive because of their personal interest that’s lure them to crack us down in a myriad weird ways.
But failure to act in wiser direction it would cost us a gigantic opportunity and chance upon which we can effectively use to manifest the changes we have been yearning to see in our environment. And it’s akin to most for everyone youth to hold a belief that now is the perfect time which we can join our hands collectively and systematically turn the old corrupt institutions down with our tactical prowess. And until we leave our comfort zone for fierce fight against old crooks then we will never witness the society we have been yearning for incessantly.
Youths shall serve as the agent of world transformation through the use of their various talents and courage. Let’s walk the talk, let’s actualize our dreams and sooner or later we will saw the scarlet we wish to set our eyes upon.
