2023 Polls: Say Goodbye to APC —Adesanya-Davies Alerts, Cautions, and Forewarns Nigerians
Our correspondent recalls that former Governor of Lagos State, “Bola Ahmed Tinubu; and former Vice President of Nigeria, Abubakar Atiku, have indicated interest to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023. Tinubu had told Buhari that he will contest on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Atiku on the other hand had said that he would contest on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

A female presidential aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies in an admonition. alerts, cautions, and forewarns Nigerians to say goodbye to APC ruling party in agreement with Gov Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State, who has warned that, “Nigerians Will Be Doomed If APC Candidate Wins 2023 Presidential Election” in a report by Segun Akanni, on February 5, 2022. Adesanya-Davies stated this in a special ‘Re-release’ in Port Harcourt.
Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State, has projected that, ‘Nigerians will be doomed if the All Progressives Congress (APC) win the 2023 presidential election. Fayose said this in an interview with The Punch on Saturday: “He said the 2023 general election is about Nigerians, whether to remain in perpetual poverty or save themselves. If the PDP does not win the 2023 election, then Nigerians are doomed,” He said.
Adding that, “From what I have seen since 2015, Nigerians are doomed. The kind of leadership that Nigeria has witnessed — insecurity, the economy. For instance, “The cost of diesel today is about N400 per litre; during President Goodluck Jonathan’s (PDP) time, it was N140, N145. Whatever we are saying, it is either Nigerians want to remain in perpetual poverty or they save themselves. It is about Nigerians themselves. “Don’t forget that the impact of these things is felt more by the masses. It is the people that are at the receiving end.”
Also, Fayose denied reports that he endorsed the APC chieftain, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for president in 2023: “I have said it over and over, Asiwaju remains a Yoruba leader; I remain a Yoruba leader. We are at different levels of leadership. But if I am being misquoted for the fact that I said Asiwaju is a Yoruba leader, I am saying I am a Yoruba leader, but Asiwaju in his own Yoruba leadership is in the APC; Ayo Fayose in his own leadership is in PDP,” Fayose said.
He asks, “Who has told you that I don’t want to be president? Who has told you that if the PDP picks me that I will not defeat Asiwaju? Who has told you? You don’t know, maybe I will still contest. If I come out and they zone it to the South-west, and they say it’s Fayose, if they pick Asiwaju, I will defeat him.
“I have never seen the quote. It is impossible. How do I claim to be the husband of a woman in another man’s house? It is all heresies. Loose talks. Listen, the PDP government is far better than the APC government in Nigeria. “Would he (Tinubu) leave the APC people and come to give me appointments, or will he make me vice president, such that I work for the APC? It is not possible. Tinubu is for the APC, I am for the PDP. All these insinuations are just to call the dog a bad name to hang it. Gov. Wike has earlier said that APC has cancer if PDP has malaria. Which one is worse!
Adesanya-Davies alludes from studies of, “Buhari’s first year: Five ways Nigeria has changed” published on 27 May, 2016 – by Novelist and writer Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani that, Muhammadu Buhari is the first Nigerian opposition candidate to be elected president. The President came to power promising Nigerians “change”. Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani gives five examples of what has changed in Nigeria since 29 May 2015 when he was sworn in, and this is modified by Adesanya-Davies to-date. She continues with questions:
1. Are we safer? Those of us who travel regularly in Nigeria’s North-east have become used to what should be a 15-minute journey turning into an hour-long ordeal. You have to stop dozens of times at road-blocks and disembark, while heavily armed soldiers inspect your vehicle for traces of the Islamist militant group, Boko Haram. Now there is so much attack on Northern roads and they are so unsafe to the extent that president Buhari himself, says they had wanted to kidnap him during one of his visits to the North.
2. President Buhari fought the 2015 election on a pledge to boost security: Boko Haram has not been considerably weakened, they are even using suicide bombers. ISWAP are now here with Fulani militant herders and Bandits. Thousands of women and girls kidnapped by the group have not also been rescued, including some of the 219 school-girls from Chibok abducted in April 2014. Where is Leah Sharibu? So, where is progress in the north-east. Again, trouble in the Niger Delta, the country’s oil-producing region, agitation is still resurfacing; as recent attacks on oil facilities have caused a drop in production and helped push up the global price of crude oil. There is also so much trouble in Biafraland cum Yoruba’s agitation for Oduduwa Republic in the West.
3. Where’s our money? In the months preceding last year’s elections, the popular chant on the streets was “Sai Buhari, Sai Buhari”, which means “Only Buhari” in Hausa – the most widely-spoken language in the North where the president is from. Supporters of President Buhari were hoping that there would be many changes in the country. A year later, the chant has changed to “Buhariya”, which roughly translates to “Buhari’s way” or “Buhari’s time”. The slogan is now used to explain every unpleasant evidence of Nigeria’s troubled economy and a time of austerity. For instance: Question: “A basket of tomatoes has gone up from 3,000 naira ($15) to 18,000 naira?” Answer: It’s “Buhariya!” Question: “How come the naira is plummeting against the dollar on the black market?” Answer: It’s “Buhariya!”. Question: What are the exchange rates right now? Answer: The rate is 1GBP = ₦563.6 NGN; and 1 USD = 416.572 NGN as at today. It’s “Buhariya!”.
4. Where are the women? Ensuring women’s participation at all levels in political, economic and public life is one of the targets of the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs). But only six out of Mr. Buhari’s cabinet of 37 are women, a meagre 16% and way down on the previous administration’s 31%. “The president’s wife, Aisha, appears as the stereotypical good African wife.” The president’s wife, Aisha, is also the most silent first lady Nigeria has had in decades, barely seen or heard – except maybe when she is visiting unkempt children in a refugee camp or donating food items to victims of Boko Haram. Or when she travels. And according to the President, “She belongs to the other room.”
Again, the first lady’s invisibility is suspicious when you consider that President Buhari, during his election campaign, said he would abolish the office of the first lady – but then retracted the suggestion when challenged by feminist voters. That means, he is always changing and relenting one his promises. No Restructuring till date, 7 years later, which was one of the forest campaign promises of APC. 5.Where’s our money? 6. What are we wearing? So much questions to ask… So much to say….
Furthermore, in a similar development, Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has described Nigeria as a nation bleeding and desperately in need of rescue from the shackles of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) on February 7, 2022. The Ira-Kwara State born Adesanya-Davies Princess also lauds Gov. Wike in agreement saying, “This is well conceived and well stated and I believe that the Nigerian electorate can get the big picture by now without any prejudice haven been so much messed up. No one tolerates a thing like that! “Once, twice beaten, a million times shy”.
“Governor Wike added, “the precarious state of the Nigerian State, requires all well meaning Nigerians, particularly members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to come together and wrest power from the APC in 2023.” He stated this when he visited the former governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi at his residence in Kaduna on Monday.
The Rivers State governor further urged members of the PDP to unite because Nigeria is bleeding: “Nigeria is bleeding, and so if we are not united Nigeria will not forgive us, because every Nigerian is hoping that PDP must come and stop this bleeding. And we require everybody. This is not about who wants to run for presidency, that is not the issue. Who wants to zone presidency, that is not the issue at all. The issue here is all of us as a matter of duty must be united. If you like zone presidency to the West, if you are not united, can you win election?”
Governor Wike said, “it is obvious that the ruling APC is deficient of ideas and cannot provide solution to the numerous challenges facing the Nigerian State. According to him, the APC has ruined Nigeria and must be voted out of power’
Asserting that, “APC has finished Nigeria. There is nothing they can tell us now. They don’t have any other idea. If they have any idea, they didn’t use it. Now is what we call injury time. All promises made now cannot be fulfilled. If they had made promise for six years and didn’t fulfil it, is it one and half years left that they will fulfil it.”
Governor Wike commended Senator Makarfi and PDP leaders in Kaduna for ensuring the party remains politically relevant in the State. He particularly applauded them for the remarkable performance of the PDP in the last local government election in the State, particularly at the grassroots.
Senator Makarfi in his response, expressed profound gratitude to the Rivers State governor and his entourage for the visit. He commended Governor Wike and his colleagues for ensuring that the last PDP national convention was successful. Senator Makarfi, who also acknowledged that Nigeria is bleeding, urged members of the PDP to collectively work together to rebuild the party first, and at the appropriate time, all stakeholders will meet to determine who flies the party’s presidential flag in 2023. Adesanya-Davies says, Nigerians have definitely wised-up by now because APC has become All Promises Cancelled.
Lastly, in another development, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has warned Nigerians against electing people who are above 70 years of age as president in 2023. He said that instead of electing people who are old enough to be grandpas, Nigerians should elect a young person as president in 2023. Makinde made this disclosure on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, speaking during the 65th birthday anniversary and thanksgiving service of Rev Samson Ayokunle, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and launching of a ministry.
But, Makinde, who is a chieftain of the PDP has charged Nigerians to choose wisely in 2023. He advised them to elect people that have the energy to serve the country. “We have seen a lot of elder statesmen who want to run this country at age 75 or 78. I want them to think twice and I am saying to the people of Oyo State and Nigeria that this world is not easy. It is possible for you to delegate, ask people to go all over the place but when they are reporting to you, if something has not been added, a few things may have been removed,” he said.
“We are in election season basically and what I will say to us as a people is that we need to choose wisely and elect the people who have the energy to truly serve the country. Adesanya-Davies supported Gov. Seyi Makinde’s warning to Nigerians stating that, I have said it over and again, that political position is not a post-retirement post but for people who are young, strong and vibrant.
Similarly, last year, ‘Prof. Davies speaking on Constitution Amendment for Presidential Aspirant Age Maximum, in what she tagged ”Too Old, Aged or Elderly to Run Bill” commended the endorsement of the 2018 ‘NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN Bill’ by President Muhammadu Buhari’s government on presidential aspirant’s age qualification; But said: “It’s now time to peg the maximum age for Presidential Aspirants in a “Too Old, Aged or Elderly to Run Bill.” This is very important. No votes for the aged and sick in Nigeria, — As President Muhammadu Buhari has said that age is telling on him, and he looks forward to enjoying his retirement – Vanguard News 6 01 2022, she added.
