3rd Mainland Bridge

Following an automobile accident on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos on Wednesday, one of the passengers’ bodies that was thrown into the lagoon has been found.

This comes soon after it was revealed that seven people in Lagos drowned between Wednesday, March 10, 2024, and Thursday, March 11, 2024.

Remember that catastrophe struck at the Adeniyi Adele end of the bridge when the bus abruptly veered off his lane and struck the bridge rail. The driver of the 20-seater commercial bus, whose number plate was FKJ 872 YA, is still at large. Two people, a man and a woman, were thrown into the lagoon by the force of the collision, and other passengers were hurt to differing degrees.

He said that the male passenger’s body had been found by the Marine Police, and he added that search operations were still underway to find the female passenger.

The Lagos State Police Command, meanwhile, revealed that it has confirmed five more drowning deaths, bringing the total number of Lagosians who have perished by drowning this week to seven in a single day.

The police claim that one of the incidences happened on the same day as the Third Mainland bridge.

In one instance, a 16-year-old kid named Fawad Adeyemi drowned in the swimming pool of a hotel in Lagos’ Marina neighbourhood. The teenager was reported to have gone swimming at the hotel on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at around 4 p.m., when he tragically passed away.

Despite reports that he had been saved and brought to Lagos Island’s General Hospital for medical attention, the hospital’s physician declared him dead.
