A rape Saga I witnessed: And He tore Her Pant -By Samuel Olomu

The first thing I asked her was “were you not raped?” she denied abruptly. On failing to get the culprit, we had to follow the young lady to the scene of the incident, two of us; a friend and me with the possibility of finding some of her lost items and particularly her sandals. As we got to the scene, we started beaming the light in search of her sandals.

I only read them in newspapers, I heard of it many times on radio; I’ve even written a couple of essays on it but yesterday I witnessed the scene.

It was really painful yesterday as I witnessed a rape scene involving a Mr. /Brother Nobody and an innocent lady in a vegetable farm. Can you imagine? What is this world turning into? I was going to a video scene with my friends in the night yesterday around 8:35 when my colleagues and I ran into a scene in the lonely area of a vegetable farm where we saw a dark- skinned tall young man who suddenly jumped out of the farm as he overheard our voice. At first we thought he was only running aimlessly since it was night not until we saw a lady walked out of the farm shouting for help. She was tattered, haggard and very rough. Her skirt was soaked in dirt of mud and blood, her move was tampered and her hair unkempt. She summoned us to help nab the man that he went away with her bag. In her bag were her phone, her books, her ID card and many other things withholding the rest of the rape story trying to protect her dignity which is peculiar to all women?

In short, we went after the young man, the six of us but unfortunately he went away into the dark. The young lady was really crying intensely regretting about her stolen phone.

Fortunately enough we found one leg of the sandals but in the process of searching the other leg of her sandals, guess what?! We ran into her panties which was soaked in blood and tore in one side in the process of the unknown guy forcing himself on her. I saw it myself and I was pained the more. On seeing this everything now made meaning to us. No lady will ever confess that since she was not caught in the action. This young lady was protecting her pride as a girl. She picked up her panties and I was forced to ask her again; “Did he rape you?” The lady rejected again as 99 percent of women will always do but the truth is obvious even written all over her faces. We continued searching the scene and as a result we saw her earpiece, her perfume and her bag’s belt which was forcefully cut in the process of survival and her sandals was found on the road from where she was dragged from.

Hmm… we waited for the rest of us to arrive after the girl requested us to call her number and we actually did. The phone ranged and to our greatest surprise her phone ranged in one corner of the vegetable farm. Now in conclusion, the guy went away with nothing but bag, books and her small phone but he stole something which the girl will never forget in her life.

I am really pained we could not do an instant justice to the matter by bringing the culprit to book. The little innocent lady does not deserve this. I don’t know why I have been somehow since yesterday because I find it hard to comprehend such an ignominious act by that heartless individual. After all, I felt bad. Put yourself in the shoes of this young lady as a boy, guy or man whatsoever. Will you also be happy seeing your sister, friends or loved ones in such a scene? C’mon injustice is painful.
