Allianz Arena Named Sole Candidate to Host 2028 UEFA Champions League Final
UEFA announces Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena as the only candidate to host the 2028 Champions League final, while Wembley and Barcelona’s Camp Nou compete for the 2029 edition.
The Allianz Arena in Munich, home of Bayern Munich, has emerged as the sole candidate to host the 2028 UEFA Champions League final, UEFA announced on Friday.
According to the European football governing body, Munich was the only city to formally submit a bid for the 2028 final, making its selection effectively uncontested. The German city last hosted the competition’s showpiece in 2025, when Paris Saint-Germain defeated Inter Milan 5–0.
Munich has a rich history with the Champions League, having previously staged the final five times — in 1979, 1993, and 1997 at the Olympic Stadium, and in 2012 and 2025 at the Allianz Arena.
UEFA also confirmed that London’s Wembley Stadium and the renovated Camp Nou in Barcelona are the two contenders for the 2029 final. A decision between the two venues will be made in September 2026.
Meanwhile, the 2026 Champions League final will take place at the Puskás Arena in Budapest, while Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium will host the 2027 edition.
