Anambra’s 2023 Draft “Budget of Acceleration” now Available for Download —By Chima Christian

My hope is that Ndi Anambra will take the time to study the budget and possibly make notes to their respective state lawmakers and to the House Committee on Appropriations. It is also hoped that citizens use all the platforms available to them, including the social media, to draw attention to areas of concern.

I don’t understand why the government of Anambra state decided to give the “palliative” treatment to the state’s 2023 draft budget.

The essence of democratising the draft budget is for citizens, whom the budget is made on behalf of, to take a look and make their contributions. That way their voices are factored in before the clean version is passed into law.

The better the quality of conversations we have around the budget, the better governance outcome. It is with this understanding that I took the pains to scan and upload the pdf version of Anambra’s 2023 Draft “Budget of Acceleration.”

“As citizens, we have to co-create good governance, we cannot outsource it and hope to be passively happy consumers. Like everything worth its while, good governance must be earned.”

I received assistance from Chinaraotito Precious Chima in the scanning of the 643-page document.

Africa’s morning will come.
