Anthony Joshua Don't Need Deontay Wilder -By Rabiu Oladele

Anthony Joshua and Wilder

I still don’t know the rationale behind some people who wants Anthony Joshua to validate his heavyweight champion title by fighting Deontay Wilder, there really no reasons for that.

These two individuals became professional boxers at the same time. One fought over 40 fights and have one belt to show for that which is the  (WBC) title while the other fought 23 fights and has four different titles  (WBA, IBF, WBO,  and IBO) to show for that.  Anthony Joshua didn’t win these belts by being selective of who he fights but always fights whose the next in line and that includes one of the Klitschko brothers at that time.

Anthony Joshua also fought and won Dillian Whyte by KO in the seventh round,  this is the same Dillian that had beaten Joshua during their Amateur fight in the UK. This is the same Dillian that Wilder has been avoiding by playing politics of boxing to make him hold on so long to the WBC title he has.

Wilder only agreed to fight Fury next year just because he knows that Fury has been offering for a long time which gives him an advantage over Fury.

Wilder said Anthony Joshua was running around the ring to make him win the fight against Andy Ruiz, what do we say of Wilder who is playing boxing politics to keep on being WBC title.

The fact is that even if AJ wants to fight Wilder,  it’s most likely not to be next year because he will have to defend his title with another heavyweight boxer before having the opportunity to face Wilder but that even depends on Wilder winning Fury in February 2020

I must say this,  even if Wilder wins Fury in February,  he still won’t like to fight AJ because he knows how risky it is for his career

my advice for AJ is to work on being champion for long as much as he can,  no need to rush,  play the politics of the game by handpicking who he fights with,  it’s part of the strategy of the game.

I won’t end till I say little about the fight between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz,  yes some said AJ didn’t really fight but run around the ring to make him win.

To an extent they are right but they can only complain about this because they weren’t too happy watching the game or because they don’t know much about the game boxing. There are strategies in this game, some have the advantage of having heavier punches, some have the advantage of being taller, some have the advantage of having longer arms, some can last longer while some can’t, some are good punchers while some are good receivers, the best is you know what you have and use it to your advantage.

AJ knows AR is good in a brawl and his punch if landed on AJ properly, he might not be able to survive it because he’s proven not to be a good receiver of punches. AJ’s team noticed this and changed tactics to the advantage of AJ having longer arms which AJ can use more for jabbing AR to gain points while he moves around the ring and extends till the 12th round for him to win by the scorecard.

This is what a good boxer does and not to be reckless and end his/her career so soon. The game is called boxing and it comes with points which also wins fights and not KOs alone

The warrior who lives to fight another day will fight for a longer period…
