Atiku Abubakar’s restructuring agenda not lip service – Dino Melaye

On the issue of unifying the country, Melaye described the former Atiku as a “celebrated problem solver”, adding that the PDP presidential candidate was the only aspirant who could be trusted by Nigerians in every region of the country. He stated that Atiku could not be accused of being ethnocentric or religiously bigoted.

Spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Dino Melaye, has said that the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was committed to his agenda to restructure the country should he win the elections in 2023.

Melaye, who was speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today Thursday evening, and addressing Atiku’s restructuring plans, said the former vice president had the capacity to set the ball rolling on his agenda, from his first day in office.

“It’s a matter of when he wins. Atiku is not giving lip service to restructuring, I’m telling you that he authored a book on restructuring. When it was not safe for any northerner to talk about restructuring, Atiku boldly spoke about restructuring. So, he’s speaking from his heart, and whatever he says, he stands by it. And I want to tell you that, it’s not going to be a matter of one or two years, it is something that he’s going to start immediately. He has the capacity to make sure that all his five agenda kickstart from the first day in office.”

The former Kogi West Senator said Atiku had worked to unify the party following months of crisis within the party since the presidential primary was held in June.

“In every family, there’s bound to be struggles; there’s bound to be disagreements. But I can tell you that Atiku has done very well in unifying the PDP. And it is an ongoing exercise. As I speak with you, many people who were in the declaration in Port Harcourt that they will not be part of the Presidential Campaign Council were present yesterday at the inauguration of the campaign council. It is the effort of Atiku Abubakar. He has shown magnanimity. He has shown maturity. He has shown that fatherly concern.”

Melaye said the PDP flag bearer would quell the agitations for division in the country by ensuring that there was justice for every Nigerian, regardless of ethnicity or religion.
