Buhari

The unreserved apology tendered by Hajia Aisha Buhari, the wife of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the president of Nigeria on behalf of her husband over the calamity bedevilling the nation, which happened at the 62nd Independence day special Juma’at prayer and public lecture held at National Mosque Conference Hall in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory is surprising.

When the news of the apology hit the airwaves, I was flabbergasted and started to think if truly the first lady really know Nigerians aren’t comfortable.

Albeit Einstein, a German-born theoretical physicist expressed in one of his epigrams that, “the world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything”. The aphorism drives me to pen this piece.

The menace that Buhari’s administration has inflicted on guiltless Nigerians is nothing to write home about. Commoners are penury-stricken, sired by the low rate of employment opportunities and economic woes. This increases the rate of theft and internet fraud among others in society. Nonetheless,  avalanche of developments are credited to his administration if crystal fact be divulged.

Furthermore, the doleful incidence this year is the lingering Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, strike which kicked off on February 14. In Buhari’s independence speech, I felt worried when he divulged that the frequent closure of public universities pained him.

The plight of insecurity in Nigeria is not endurable any longer. Although,  the military personnel are trying their best but Nigerians want them to put more power. The Owo massacre, Kuje jailbreak, incessant abductions in the country.

Apologizing publicly is an indication that the first is soft hearted and humble. Also, if Hajia Aisha Buhari could publicly intercede Buhari, it’s good but If Nigerians will accept is my concern and prayer.
