Barcelona’s Andreas Christensen Out for Months with Knee Ligament Injury
Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen suffers a partial ACL tear and will miss several months, including Denmark’s 2026 World Cup play-offs.
Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen will be sidelined for several months after suffering a knee ligament injury during training on Saturday.
“Christensen has a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee as the result of an unfortunate twist of the knee in Saturday’s training session,” the La Liga leaders said in a statement on Sunday.
The club confirmed that Christensen will follow a conservative treatment plan, with Spanish media reporting an expected absence of around four months.
The 29-year-old centre-back is likely to miss Denmark’s 2026 World Cup play-off matches against North Macedonia in March.
Since joining Barcelona from Chelsea in 2022, Christensen has struggled with injuries, and his current contract at Camp Nou runs until June 2026.
