Buhari, Quit Standing Between Honour And The Lack Of Will, Resign! -By Jeff Okoroafor

The President has been unyielding to the cries for his resignation, which has soared in momentum amidst the devastating impact of his inactive-status on the lives of Nigerians. A country such as ours that revolved around the seat of the president, cannot withstand the ceremonial lethargy that has engulfed the seat of the C-in-C. This Executive complacency which has been made ridiculous by unwarranted secrecy has thrown the country into a state of trepidation.
An excerpt publication of the Sun Newspaper of Wednesday, March 10, 2010 on Muhammadu Buhari’s view on the then ailing President, Umaru Musa Yar’adua quotes Buhari’s declaration thus; the only solution to the present political uncertainty in the country is for the National Assembly to set machineries in motion for the impeachment of ailing President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. He further went on to buttress that; the Federal Executive Council must save the nation from the current agony by declaring the president incapacitated to pave the way for his impeachment.
The question on my mind at the moment is, what has kept the president from towing the lane of honour that he once professed in 2010?
We cannot condone this show of ignominy any longer emerging from the highest office of the Executive arm of government. Our collective pride as a nation has been punctured by the mockery of democracy as witnessed in the government on ground. The international community has now been given more impetus to look at Nigeria as a charade among the comity of nations. We have suffered the worst of disregard from the collective cabinet of the executives who nonchalantly treat the voice of Nigerian as mere blab.
We as a people have avid interest in our nascent democracy, and are willing to put our lives on the line to defend its sustenance, even if we have to stand against a formidable cabal that thrives in secrecy. The fight to recover Nigeria from the dark forces operating from the presidency is testing our collective strength as Nigerians. These power thirsty vampires are bent on engaging our revered seat of honour (the president’s seat) in a scheme of political chess. They hide under the mask of the presidency, operating above the laws of the land reinforced by the immunity of the office, they vent their conspiracy on the country to achieve their greedy plot. These con-men and women have stage-managed the affairs of the presidency for too long a time to now cheerfully bow out, they cannot claim the victor over 200-million citizens.
Who will the gambit in PMB’s government? With the obvious reality playing out, can we say, the presidents body language tends towards the yearning of the Nigerian citizens or the aspirations of the cabal in the Presidency? The president, Muhammadu Buhari known to be a man of honour has a decision to make to salvage his reputation.
Consistently, calls from several quarters within the country have been made, urging the president to resign in good fate. The fact that some prominent persons in the political scene handle this matter with triviality tells a lot about how unconcerned some of the people elected into office may be about the Nation’s welfare.
We are certain that, a resignation at this point in time will be honourable of the president and if within the space of this month of May, he sees to it, then Nigeria will celebrate another bravery, which will serve a lasting legacy for the history of this great African Nation.
