Buhari, Tinubu: Two Patients Battling With Similar Infection -By Tunmise Ajeigbe

It was unpalatable seeing the national leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC, also double as a formal governor of Lagos state, senator Bola Tinubu, and one-time Nigerian head of state in the ’80s, the incumbent president of the federal republic of Nigeria, General Mohammadu Buhari sharing a moment together in London after a long while of their sudden disappearance and togetherness in Nigeria.

This would never appear as news to Nigerians again, that they are both patients under medical attention who have been accused of the death scuttlebutt after battling with a strong illness which was later considered as a politically motivated falsehood. I believe the good people of Nigeria will never stop asking questions as regards the authenticity of the speculations.
The incumbent Nigerian president, General Buhari who stepped into office on the 29th of May, 2015 after defeating President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election poll.

Former President Goodluck seeking re-election under the pillar of People Democratic Party PDP, a political party that ruled the nation continuously for a period of 16years without interruption by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, late President Musa Yar’Adua who passed on after his third year on the presidential seat in the year 2010, he died of illness in Aso Villa, Abuja.

2015 presidential election brought about a different kettle of fish to Nigerians, however, Nigerians began to realize that things were falling apart in the nation after General Buhari’s first tenure in 2019. Since the year 1999 that the nation metamorphosed into a modern democratic era, it has now become a culture that every elected president in Nigeria must seek for re-election. General Buhari displayed his capability by running again in the year 2019 presidential election poll, this time he ran against Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who was a two-term vice president of the federal republic of Nigeria from the year 1999 to 2007. This was a controversial man whom Nigerians believe is capable of privatizing all the nation’s revenue sectors for his personal benefit. Without any prejudice and doubt about him, he is one of the richest politicians in Nigeria, more so, he is also being regarded as a business guru.

The chronicle behind the Nigerian president, General Buhari’s death stated its spread in May 2017, when he traveled to London for medical treatment. In fact, this treatment took him about 104 days before he could return back to Nigeria after numerous speculations to portray his death image. This can be found online, a one-minute silence was observed in the United Kingdom UK, by some stakeholders to serve as condolence after his death announcement in The UK. After some time General, Buhari came back to Nigeria peacefully to take over his mandate. Prior to his arrival in2017, his vice president, Yemi Osibanjo had taken over all the affairs of the nation as the acting president.

Unto his critics, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, his opponent, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the likes of others are on the point that the president is dead in London but the man in Aso Rock was just a cloned person whose name is Jubril from Sudan.

Analysts reveal that General Buhari had left Nigeria for over 200 days seeking medical attention abroad since he assumed office as the democratically elected president of Nigeria in 2015, while the Nigerian hospitals kept dilapidating, enhancing rapid growth in its level of sub-standardization not to yield a good medical response to the Nigerian people. Some said the health sector under General Buhari’s administration is in a shambolic state. The Nigerian resident doctors were on strike during the time that the president went on exit.  Now that the president is back, hopefully, the leopard of the Nigerian people would like to change its spot.

To the national leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC, senator Bola Tinubu whose case is different. Sometimes in march 2021, his footage went viral in the nation when he nearly got slumped on a podium in Kaduna, while addressing some set of audience. This is to show that the man himself is a patient of unrevealed illness. More so, there is this existing claim that the former Lagos state governor is a sickle cellar, though this has not been confirmed publicly by any recognized medical firm. It is more or less like a mere public fictional assumption from his look, it is not yet a fact, it is far away from reality.

Nigerians have begun to wonder, how will the 2023 presidential election poll look like? When Senator Tinubu himself had declared his presidential ambition ahead 2023 election. Senator Tinubu from the South West region of the country is a Yoruba man from Iragbiji, the capital of Boripe Local Government Area in Osun state, originally, he’s not from Lagos state. Some Yoruba elites have earlier condemned senator Tinubu on the basis that his title “Asiwaju” was never for the Yoruba lineage.

The Yoruba self-determination ideologists often criticized him for playing the major role by imposing Gen Buhari from Fulani ethnic group on Yoruba people, and again, he is seeking to be president in 2023. According to them, they believe Gen Buhari’s administration is not effectively working for the Yoruba people, and the utmost resolution is to have ‘Oduduwa nation’ fractioned out of Nigeria will be the only antidote to clear the air, following the tune of agitation by the likes of Prof Banji Akintoye and chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho who is presently in police custody in the neighboring country, Benin Republic for bridging the country’s entry law.

SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES

These two men are from the ruling All Progressive Congress APC. They were both ex-governors with similar political ideologies. Both are standing on the pillar of the same religion, they are both Muslim brothers.

Senator Tinubu was a two-term governor of Lagos state under the political platform of Alliance for Democracy AD from 1999 t0 2007 while General Buhari was the then military Governor of Bornu state in the ’70s for just 42 days.

They both aspired to be the Nigerian president in which one’s dream had come to pass while the other fellow is still on the race. However, many people believed that senator Tinubu is the right ladder that uplifts General Buhari’s ambition to its point of actualization in 2015 after contesting for over three times. In 2003 and 2007 he bears the party flag of All Nigerians Peoples Party ANPP, and in 2011, he merged with other political parties to form Congress for Progressive Change CPC, he ran for the presidential seat and lost to former president Goodluck.

I trust my Nigerian people, they’ll not stop asking questions to clear their doubts ahead 2023 general election. A question like, after the 81 years old General Buhari, who will be the nation’s next president? After all, he signed the ‘Not too young to rule’ bill into law in 2018 with a concessional clause, “Do not contest against me for now.  After I finished my straight eight years, you fresh blood can then come onboard”.

Senator Tinubu has been the right person controlling the affairs of Lagos state since 1999. He is the right stakeholder to consult before any Lagosian can attain the Lagos state governorship seat. Now, it’s time he feels the presidential seat is appropriate for him to attain neglecting his health challenges. Nigerians can see him with a walking stick in a viral picture together with General Buhari in London. These two patients are suffering from similar diseases but they are being blindfolded by their fans and supporters perhaps they do not know.
