Celebrating One of Our Own: Dr Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor -By Tony Osakpamwan Agbons
A recipient of a plethora of awards both within and outside Nigeria, she is happily married to Nigeria`s leading Neurosurgeon, Dr Douglas Okor and blessed with two lovely children. Congratulations Dr Loretta, a true ambassador of Edo State, as you receive this distinguished award of Outstanding Health Expert of the Year in London, United Kingdom on 20th May 2023.
Do you know that the beautiful woman you see here is a daughter of Edo state we are all proud of. She is an elegant amazon born and bred in Benin City.
Dr Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor was born to the family of Prince Richard Osariogiuwa Ogboro and Mrs Rose Aghaku Ogboro. A true daughter of Edo State in every sense of the word, with a blended heritage that cuts across four local government areas (LGAs) of Edo State including Esan Central, Esan South-East, Uhunmwode and Oredo LGAs of Edo State.
She attended Lydia Primary School Benin City and gained admission on national merit to the Federal Government Girls’ College Benin City where she became Head Girl and passed her West African Examination Council Examination (WAEC), all in grade As.
She studied Medicine at the University of Benin College of Medical Science and graduated in 2003 with MBBS. Leaving her usual mark of excellence as the Vice-president of the University of Benin Medical Student’s Association. She is currently President of UNIBEN Alumni Association United Kingdom (UK) branch.
She has a Master (MSc) degree in Public Health Research and another MSc in Clinical Education from the University of Edinburgh and Sheffield Hallam both in the UK. Dr Loretta is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists UK. She is currently a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust as well as an Obstetrics Skills and Drill Lead with the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust.
