Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged Nigerians to rise above divisions and work towards unity as Christians across the country mark the 2025 Christmas celebration, describing the season as a time for reflection, healing and national renewal.

In his Christmas message, Atiku conveyed warm greetings to Nigerians, particularly Christian faithful, while underscoring the broader significance of the season for the nation.

“Christmas is a solemn reminder of the virtues of love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and compassion; values that Nigeria urgently needs at this moment in its history,” he said.

He stressed that Christmas should go beyond festivities, encouraging Nigerians to mend broken relationships and strengthen the bonds that unite the country despite ethnic, religious and political differences.

“This season also calls us to rise above division and embrace one another in love. It is a season that invites us to heal old wounds, to forgive, and to recommit ourselves to the unity and common destiny of our nation,” Atiku stated.

The former vice president also called on citizens to use the period for deep reflection and prayer, noting that Nigeria needs peace, justice and renewed hope amid ongoing challenges.

“I urge Nigerians to use the season not merely for celebration, but for quiet reflection and prayer, seeking divine guidance for peace, justice, and renewed hope for the country,” he added.

Atiku concluded by encouraging Nigerians to draw strength from the core values of Christmas to promote unity and chart a hopeful future for the nation.
