The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has said Nigeria’s renewal and future development depend largely on a consistent and uncompromising fight against corruption, calling on citizens to embrace the values of love, light and hope symbolised by the birth of Christ.

Olukoyede made the appeal in Abuja on Wednesday in his Christmas message to the nation, urging Nigerians to unite in rebuilding the country and restoring its image within the global community.

The message was conveyed in a statement signed by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, quoting the anti-graft chief.

Reflecting on the essence of Christmas, Olukoyede described the season as an opportunity for moral and national rebirth.

“Nigeria needs the refreshing hope, love and light which Christ brought to the entire world,” he said.

He called on Nigerians to put aside their differences and work collectively towards national progress.

“Let’s join hands together to make our nation greater, stronger and richer,” Olukoyede stated.

The EFCC chairman cautioned that corruption remains a major obstacle to development and must be tackled decisively for meaningful progress to be achieved.

“Corruption is a drawback. We should confront it more fiercely to allow the abundant life of God manifest in our nation,” he said.
