Christmas Travel: Luxury Bus Operators Assure Passengers of Safety and Fleet Preparedness
Luxury bus operators under ALBON say they are fully prepared for Christmas and New Year travel, boosting fleets, maintaining vehicles and working with security agencies to ensure safe, smooth journeys nationwide.
As Nigerians gear up for increased movement during the Christmas and New Year holidays, luxury long-distance bus operators have reassured passengers of safe, efficient and uninterrupted travel nationwide.
The Association of Luxury Bus Owners of Nigeria (ALBON) said it has put measures in place to address safety challenges and manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the festive season.
In a statement jointly signed by ALBON National President, Prince Samuel Ezeh, and Honorary Secretary, Mr Frank Nneji, the association said its members are collaborating closely with security agencies to ensure smooth operations, especially on major highways with heavy traffic.
According to ALBON, transport companies under its umbrella have expanded their fleets with newly acquired buses, while older vehicles have undergone thorough maintenance to ensure roadworthiness and passenger comfort.
The association also called on the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to step up efforts to tackle worsening traffic congestion on key routes, noting that prolonged gridlocks often leave travellers stranded for hours and disrupt travel schedules during peak periods.
ALBON projected a significant increase in passenger traffic this festive season, attributing the trend to the high cost of air travel, which has pushed more Nigerians to choose road transport. To cope with the demand, operators have boosted operational capacity, trained onboard staff and deployed additional ground personnel.
While extending Christmas and New Year goodwill to travellers, ALBON urged passengers to remain safety-conscious and cooperate with transport officials throughout their journeys.
