Dati, I Can’t Bleach My Skin -By Hassan Idris

One-day, my husband told me he wanted me to look white or if possible let me bleach my skin and I laughed thinking he was joking not until I realized he was serious about it and would even give me money to buy bleaching cream or even go for bleaching injection. I still detested and respectfully told him I’m sorry, I’ll never bleach my skin for any reason.

Hassan Idris and Dati

I’m a black skinned lady who lived in Wadata, Makurdi with a pointed nose and a beautiful body structure and I don’t regret that. One might call my body shape figure eight. My curves and hips are well designed beautifully by the Almighty. And I’ve been dating Dati for two years before we got married to each other. We’ve enjoyed love and our honey moon was nostalgic and unforgettable since we married out of love with our parents approval. Since marriage they said is not a thing of just the married couples but the entire family as well.

I’ve maintained my dark skinned colour even before Dati met me and asked me out for marriage and I’ve never seen or imagined a reason that will make me detest the beautiful skin God Almighty gave me. If I should count the blessings of God on me I won’t be able to do so. I’ve always been a thankful servant of the Almighty.

Dati said his reason for asking me to bleach my skin was because he recently found love in white skinned women and that’s why he wanted me to bleach my skin so that he won’t go out looking for another woman. I’ve told Dati since our last conversation that if he can’t stay with me as a black skinned womam as he met me, let him add another wife who’s light skinned in complexion for I don’t have issues with that. He rejected and offered me a divorce letter. Have I done anything wrong for refusing to bleach my skin for my husband?

Say no to bleaching!
