His announcement comes just weeks after Governor Adeleke adopted the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

Governor Adeleke formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party on December 9, 2025, during an event held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo, attended by party leaders at both national and state levels.

At the time, the governor explained that his decision was driven by the leadership crisis within the PDP at the national level, disclosing that he joined the Accord Party on November 6 following consultations with stakeholders and opinion leaders to strengthen his re-election bid.
