Dispelling The Myths In The Media About The Force PRO’s “We No Go Gree” Declaration + Video -By Adewole Kehinde

2024 started with the popular slang “No Gree for Anybody” and has really gained widespread attention.

 Many believe the slang is about staying true to one’s beliefs and not easily succumbing to the influence of others.

 During a press briefing on Tuesday in Abuja, Muyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, said intelligence reports show that the catchphrase “No Gree for Anybody” can plunge the country into a crisis of monumental proportions.

 ACP Adejobi said that although the catchphrase is being seen as normal talk, those in the security community view it as a dangerous slogan.

 He said, “And let me say again on this note that the new slogan, which is ‘No gree for anybody’, we have been informed from our intelligence unit that this slogan is coming from a revolutionary sector that will likely cause problems for the country.

 “No gree for anybody has been seen as normal talk, but in the security business and the security community, we have seen it as a very dangerous slogan that can trigger crises.”

What ACP Adejobi meant is that, for example, if police, DSS, LASTMA, road safety, etc. want to arrest a criminal or lawbreaker, it will be wrong for onlookers or spectators to tell the criminal or lawbreaker “No Gree For Anybody,” thereby resisting arrest, which may lead to a breakdown of law and order.

It is unfortunate the way some media organisations have misinterpreted the simple statement of the Force spokesperson.

The media plays a critical role in setting the record straight by providing accurate and reliable information to the public. It acts as a watchdog, holding individuals and institutions accountable for their actions and statements.

Journalists have the responsibility to fact-check and verify information before reporting it, helping to counter misinformation and disinformation.

Additionally, the media can provide a platform for different perspectives and voices, contributing to a well-rounded understanding of complex issues. By presenting a range of viewpoints and facilitating open and transparent discussions, the media helps to clarify facts and dispel misconceptions.

Furthermore, the media should serve as a channel for corrections and retractions when errors are made, ensuring that the public is informed of any inaccuracies and misunderstandings.

Overall, the media’s role in setting the record straight is essential for maintaining an informed and educated society. It promotes accountability, transparency, and accuracy in the dissemination of information.

The police are in the best position to advise and educate Nigerians on possible early warning signs of impending danger as a civil and people-oriented institution.

Do not take the 2024 slogan for granted. Do not abuse the slogan and capitalize on it as attacking security operatives while discharging their duties.

Be reasonable with the slogan, sue for it, and embrace peace anywhere you find yourself, even at home.
