Do men like seeing women half-naked on social media? -By Jeff Okoroafor

I was so tired from work yesterday and so while driving home, I stopped by a hotel to eat. After placing my order and waiting for them to cook it up, three well dressed, matured looking men came in and sat close to the table next to mine. We all exchanged pleasantries and I went back minding my business – pressing my phone because the hunger was too severe for me to be in a conversation mood. But something interesting happened. One of the guys asked, probably rhetorically, “do men really like seeing half-naked women on social media?” I raised my head to look at him, and then quickly put it down again, minding my business. As I said, I was very hungry and not in the mood for any talk. I have seen on social media (he continued) where pictures of half-naked women are put up and the likes, comments, and sharing that follows is remarkably high. What could be the reason?

The first response was punchy – “oh boi leave those women, na dem know wetin them de find”. The second guy went deeper, stating some of the things I’ve once mentioned on Twitter about the way and manner today women have chosen to dress. He ended up by saying that parents should simply “train their children”.

Back in the days, seeing a woman’s nakedness is as tough as forming a diamond. Not today. Today all you need to do to see a naked woman is a simple visit to any social media platform of your choice. You will be presented with both picture and video versions.

There are women that look half-naked on social media for everybody to see. What women need to understand is that men are visual creatures. They like to look at things that look nice to them. But just because it looks nice to them doesn’t mean they respect it. And no man will be with a woman he does not respect.

In men’s mind, a woman who’s half-naked on social media do so for attention, for male validation, probably she has low self-esteem and she’s insecure. No man, I repeat, no man will look at that kind of a woman and say, “you know what, that’s the woman I’m going to be with; that’s the woman I want to start a family with; that’s the woman I’m going to build a foundation with etc”, no man will say such.

Fact is, a man might look at your half-naked pictures on social media, he may even holler and say nice things (as I’ve seen on multiple occasions) and he might even sleep with you, but he will never, never take you serious.

Those men who holler and say nice things upon seeing your half-naked pictures on social media, will frown at their own sisters if they catch them exposing their body for everyone to see, especially on social media.

Call me “old school” if you like, but I think a woman should always carry herself with self-respect and dress to leave something for a man’s imagination.
