Do politicians work for the people or for themselves? -By Ishaq Musa Ahamd

Wake-up call….

Nigeria belongs to everybody, and we all deserve to have sound a education and good health care facilities across the country. All these can be enjoyed when there is peace and security across the regions.

But what really is peace and security? Is it a mere absence of violence and living in a secured environment? What about poverty and hunger, can we say there is absence of security when there is hunger and majority of our people live below the poverty line.

But the masses themselves are not making things easier; we sing praises and celebrate the people we elect to provide us with basic infrastructure and provide enabling environment for our youth to thrive. But when they throw chicken change at us, and we forget about their failures to deliver what was promised to us.

Today a graduate cannot secure a job base on merit. Rather, one can only secure an employment if he/she pays for it. You pay tuition fees and again pay our Senators and reps millions to get a job that was meant for you. We elect them and they trade the jobs that was supposed to be given to deserving people. They call us lazy, even when one can’t even get a loan to start a business from government micro-finance bank unless he/she knows someone.
