Drug abuse or substance abuse is a disorder characterized by excessive use of the habit forming drug and misuse of over the counter medicine, the illegal use drugs which in turn leads to severe addiction and dependence with so many negative conclusion. Drug abuse addiction is a chronic illness with relapse rule similar to those of the hypertension, diabetes, and asthma. And it refers to the certain chemicals for the purpose of creating pleasurable effects on the brains, there are over one hundred and ninety million (190,000,000) drug users around the world and the problem has been increasing at an alarming rate especially among young people under the age of 18-30. Apart for the long lasting damage, drug abuse cause to the body, drugs addict who use needles are also at risk of contracting HIV and Hepatitis B and C infection.

Drugs abuse are usually psychoactive drugs that are used by people for various different reasons which may include; curiosity and peer group especially among school children and young adults. The use of prescription drugs that were originally intended to target pain relief may have turned into recreational use and become addictive chemicals may be used as part of religion practice or ritual recreational purpose as a means of obtaining creative inspiration.

The consequences of drug abuse can never be overemphasized as it has birthed a lot of problems not only in family but in the nation as well as the international community. Some medical issues associated with drug abuse include; mental disorder, lethargy, irritability, heart disorder, among others.
