Good Governance isn’t Offered by Age Rather, Sound Health, Competence -By Abdulkadir Onikeke
If good governance is measure by age, Governor Yahyah Bello would have been the best Governor and Kogi State would have been a Nigeria version of London because he was the only governor born after Nigerian civil war.
I have engaged copious of my political associates who are not part Paris in an earnest debate on who should be our next governor in Kwara State by 2023, many of whom were able to identify a common characteristic in one of the prospective candidates but to the exclusion of a comrade whose Dog didn’t follow the normal route claim the anointed candidate is aged.
This led to the question raised above, if good governance is offer by age or sound health and competence.
To start with, we all believed in a statement “experience is a best teacher” and this experience is a test of age, someone who will be competent and experienced would not have his age stagnant but growing.
If good governance is measure by age, Governor Yahyah Bello would have been the best Governor and Kogi State would have been a Nigeria version of London because he was the only governor born after Nigerian civil war.
Moreover, If good governance is measure by age, both Bukola Saraki and Abdulfatai Ahmad who became Governor in their 40’s would have turned Kwara to an economy buoyant State rather they succeeded in putting existing companies into liquidation.
Governorship or presidency post required a sound state of health because of its hectic nature that warrant attending various proceedings and embarking on planned and unplanned travelling.
Professor, Abdulraheem Oba is stalwart, vigorous and strong to the extent that he can be liking to that of 20 years old boy, he is a clairvoyant whose eyes is sharp enough to read without glasses even at night, the wailers should look for other political gimmicks as we are learnt enough to fall for this simple trick.
I have said it laconically and it is Sacatas simpilicitas.
