Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerian youths to remain optimistic about the country’s future and to have unwavering faith in its potential for transformation.

Speaking during an interactive session with youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) titled “An Uncommon Evening With the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio,” the Senate President urged young Nigerians not to lose hope despite current economic challenges.

The event, held at the APC Youth House in Abuja and organized by the APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, brought together young party members to engage with the Senate President.

In a statement from his media office, Akpabio said the ongoing reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration would soon yield positive results for the nation.

“The world was not built in a day. If you feel discouraged about Nigeria’s future, do something about it,” Akpabio said. “Start first by cleaning your environment, by sharing what you have with others, by showing love to one another.”

He urged youths to stay hopeful, declaring:

“Don’t mind the situation you find today. The evil you see today, you shall see them no more. The poverty around you today, you shall see them no more. Just believe strongly and have faith in your country. Your time will come and Nigeria will change.”

Akpabio emphasized the power of mindset and self-belief:

“The mind is stronger than the body. Believe that your country shall be better, that you will make it in life, and that you will be an agent of change for your generation.”

Highlighting the role of the ruling party, he described the APC as a “vehicle for transformation and leadership”, assuring the youths that it remains Nigeria’s most stable political platform.

“APC is not an accident; it’s a dream well thought out. It is the only political party that will guarantee your electoral victory in the future,” he said.

Akpabio also told the gathering that Nigerian youths are “leaders of today, not tomorrow,” urging them to embrace unity, discipline, and responsibility in nation-building.

Reflecting on his personal journey, Akpabio revealed that anger at societal injustice pushed him into politics:

“If you are not angry with the situation of your family, assuming you were born into a poor home, you will not be able to change that home. Anger inspired me to go into politics.”

Earlier, APC National Youth Leader Dayo Israel said the session aimed to inspire young Nigerians to learn from Akpabio’s experiences and take up leadership roles that would shape the nation’s future.
