How foreign legal firm lured Justice department to get EFCC to investigate Sunrise

White & Case having no substantial evidence against Sunrise wrote the FGN through the department of justice to get Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to investigate and dig up dirt on Sunrise and it’s chairperson Leno Adesanya.
This may have formed the basis for recent detention of former minister of power Dr. Aguloye and also declaration of chairperson Sunrise, Leno Adesanya, wanted.

It’s not news that FGN had commenced negotiations with sunrise towards amicable settlement of the Mambilla hydro power dispute.
This was based on the condition given by the President of China that funding for the project would only be possible after legal dispute with sunrise were resolved. This is also aside documented evidence which span four (4) democratic presidents, showing various correspondences with Sunrise power transmission company limited (SPTCL).

This also formed the United-Kingdom meeting and consensus by Sunrise (SPTL) and representative of the Nigerian government, former minister of power, agriculture and attorney general of the federation.

Whilst FGN may have made a U-turn and failed in meeting up with its settlement agreement, FGN through the former attorney general appointed a foreign legal firm White & Case to represent Nigeria at the ICC.

White & Case having no substantial evidence against Sunrise wrote the FGN through the department of justice to get Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to investigate and dig up dirt on Sunrise and it’s chairperson Leno Adesanya.
This may have formed the basis for recent detention of former minister of power Dr. Aguloye and also declaration of chairperson Sunrise, Leno Adesanya, wanted.

Aside charging FGN over $10 Million USD and still presenting invoices for billing, many legal experts have referred to these firms action sub-judice on the the entire legal process and against international commercial law.

Evidence sighted in a letter Ref: MJ/CIV/ARBT/2/17 Vol VII written 26th October 2022 with heading ICC case No26260/SPN:AB signed by the permanent Secretary of the minister of justice (Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba) to the EFCC asking the commission to investigate sunrise as a way to help FGN’s case at the ICC as requested by this foreign legal firm. This was based on a correspondence from the legal firm to the Justice department imploring it to investigate Sunrise & it’s chairperson.

Legal luminaries have advised FGN to settle out of court and move the mambilla hydro project toward instead of looking for scape goats and loopholes.
