If I’m Kidnapped, Don’t Pay Ransom — Plateau Cleric Ezekiel Dachomo Tells Followers
Evangelist Ezekiel Dachomo of COCIN, Plateau State, says no ransom should be paid if he’s kidnapped, declaring in a viral video that his death would “raise war” for Christian liberation amid ongoing violence in northern Nigeria.
A Plateau-based cleric and regional leader of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Evangelist Ezekiel Dachomo, has drawn widespread attention after a viral video surfaced in which he urged his family and followers not to pay any ransom if he is ever kidnapped.
In the video, which has been widely circulated on social media, Dachomo declared that his death would not be in vain but would instead “raise war” that would lead to the liberation of Christians in Nigeria.
“We are showing them mercy, we are showing them love but they didn’t see it. I don’t know where I will be next, but for me, I’ve already told my family and members; if they kidnap me, nobody should contribute one kobo. My grave will speak, my blood will raise war that will lead to Christians’ liberation,” he said.
The Plateau cleric, known for his outspoken stance on issues of insecurity and religious violence, said he had come to terms with the risks of his advocacy, particularly his criticism of persistent killings in northern Nigeria.
“That day is coming, I am just waiting for them. Even I will tell them, kill me quickly because nobody will bring kobo,” he added.
Dachomo had earlier released a separate video showing the mass burial of victims of a recent attack in Heipang community, near Jos, Plateau State. He said the footage was meant to serve as evidence of what he called an “ongoing Christian genocide” in northern Nigeria.
According to him, documenting the atrocities was necessary to ensure that the world does not deny or forget the scale of violence against Christian communities.
The cleric’s declaration has sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians praising his courage and unwavering faith, while others expressed concern for his safety amid rising insecurity in parts of the North.
