I’m North, I’m Not Safe -By Abdulaziz Isah Bagwai

I’m North, a daughter to the mother Earth
I’ve been rheumatized, my skin was Scrabbled
They turn me unto a scraggy graveyard
I’m bleeding even through my hair’s.
They’re scrambling on my pieces
I couldn’t find my other halves
Neither the Northwest is safe nor the East,
The South, North and The Central.
I couldn’t scrap back, for;
I was betrayed by the kids I breed
I feed ’em from my hard earnings but, here
They’re with a sharp Scimitar to slaughter me
Like a hunted beast.
They said it’s secular and I asked what have
I done? They quit for awhile, I thought they repent
But, Nay! They were on a break.
Now they reinstate: I can’t tell the number of
sons and daughters of mine they had Wiped-away.
When am I going to be safe again?
