On Sunday, Tom Brady was subjected to some serious criticism from comedians, his former teammates, and even Kim Kardashian at Netflix’s “The Greatest Roast of All Time.”

Netflix aired the “GROAT” special live, with Kevin Hart serving as host. The former NFL quarterback showed that he was a good sport when he was ridiculed for a variety of sensitive subjects, including his appearance, his two retirements, his divorce from Gisele Bündchen, “deflategate,” and his FTX investment controversy.

As the event’s producer and comedian, Jeff Ross—better known as the “Roastmaster General”—kicked things off by saying that Brady should serve as an example to future generations of how, “you too can be the third most famous guy in a Dunkin Donuts commercial if you work hard, eat right, film the other team’s practices, deflate the balls, and have the NFL make new rules just for you.”

Kardashian made an unexpected appearance on the dais and teased Brady about rumours that the two had a brief relationship last year.

She made reference to several headlines that were based on clips from her life, saying, “I’d never say if we did or not, I’d just release the tape.”

Ben Affleck, a Boston native and supporter of Brady, disclosed that during the Super Bowl production, Brady urged the director and actor to have a look at his remarks on social media.

“It was the most toxic thing that I have ever experienced – and that’s saying something,” Affleck joked.

“That doesn’t make you a fan,” he said to Brady’s trolls. “That makes you a b—.”

Will Ferrell appeared as his “Anchorman” character Ron Burgundy, calling Brady a “true Patriot until he was not, of course,” and joking that it took Bündchen “13 years to learn what we all know: Tom is boring.”

Throughout the evening, several jokes made reference to Brady and Bündchen’s divorce, with Brady regularly seen drinking his drink. Together, the former couple declared their separation in October 2022.

Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, along with teammates Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Randy Moss, and Drew Bledsoe, took turns making fun of the MVP. Robert Kraft, the owner of the Patriots, and Peyton Manning were also present.

Speaking on how “psyched” he was to having Brady and Belichick together, Gronkowski remarked, “I witnessed firsthand how much you two are same, despite everyone’s perceptions to the contrary. Both of you are jerks who detest having fun.

Comedians Nikki Glaser, Andrew Schulz, Tony Hinchcliffe, Tom Segura, Bert Kreischer, and Sam Jay enjoyed themselves while delivering their skits. Glaser made a joke about Brady being “the best to ever play for too long.”

Brady’s NFL career has been nothing short of extraordinary, despite the fact that he saw inevitable defeat on Sunday.

Brady was the top quarterback in the NFL for 23 years, during which time he won seven Super Rings: six with the Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Bucs. Moreover, he has won five Super Bowl MVP and won three NFL MVP awards.

He first announced his retirement in February 2022. He ended up reversing his decision and returned to the field for one more season with the Buccs before officially retiring last year.

At the end of the roast, Brady finally had the chance to defend himself, saying that people had asked him why he agreed to do the event.

“It’s simple,” Brady said. “I can take all the hits. I would have done this earlier but I’ve been too busy winning championships.”
