INEC 2023 Presidential Decides; Nobody Rejoices After a Successful Robbery Attack Except the Robbers -By Ajiboye Amos Olakunle

The implication of the election was that apathy would be reinstated as the people have been taught by INEC that their opinion and choices do not matter. This would also lead to an intensified disunity and several secession attempts. Already there is a large clamor for Biafra and Oduduwa.

We were told robbery happens in the middle of the night; but we weren’t informed that a certain set of robbers do it during the day.

No matter how strong and persevering a people might be, once they’re pushed to the wall, they’ll definitely revolt. Nigerians have been faced with horrible and horrific dispensations from political leaders over the years.

There are certain responsibilities expected of a government. Although, the people are also saddled with theirs. Every nation should enjoy provision of not just basic amenities but also the assurance of the rigidity of the law which would make the citizens believe in such government.

Well, Nigerian government have not only failed in providing basic amenities, they’ve failed woefully in ensuring the supremacy of the law. In Nigeria, the law is a respecter of political leaders but not of the common people.

It was not a hearsay that the common people had lost hope in the government of Nigeria, many of Nigerians had fled the misfortune by going the ‘japa’ route. However, some are behind and resolute with the optimism of a great change.

While people had lost hope in the country and government, they got a memo about a revolution possible via the polls. Well, it wasn’t the case of a two-party system, there were three major parties to choose from. It was unlike the prior situations.

Definitely, diverse opinions and decisions affected the people’s political choice. The people were so sure in the realization of their interest. They went to the polls in their numbers, stayed put and protected their votes.

Unfortunately, the people discovered another problem different from the government, the people realized the independent national electoral commission was a saboteur of democracy and good governance. While the people raised their voice, INEC appointed their choice.

One of the greatest heist recorded in the country is that of February 25, 2023 where the INEC hijacked the will of the people. It was a robbery that happened so fast, though without a well plan as flaws were immediately exposed.

Several reforms have been made in the last few months before the election and the major one is the electoral transmission of election results which gave people the assurance of fairness. Although, the people witnessed it in the elections of Anambra, Ekiti and Osun. The people thought it would be same case with the nation, unfortunately, INEC went another route.

For the very first time that a larger part of the youths were so focused and interested in the election, their hope and faith in electoral process was eliminated by INEC. Due to the influences of the ruling party and the distrust people have in them, it was believed that the APC bought the election.

The post-election was quieter than the graveyard. The people were silent, sober and dissatisfied as many people are hoping to recover the stolen mandate. The two major parties have immediately approached the court as people keep hoping for cancellation of the election result.

The implication of the election was that apathy would be reinstated as the people have been taught by INEC that their opinion and choices do not matter. This would also lead to an intensified disunity and several secession attempts. Already there is a large clamor for Biafra and Oduduwa.

Well, maybe all hope is not lost. The three arms of the government founded no fault in the electoral process. The president was proud of the flop, same as the legislative. Now, the people are hoping that the judiciary would take it place as the last hope of the common man.
