Insecurity: Of The Abuja-Kaduna Rail Bombardment/Attack -By Mary Bawa & Muhammad Umar Shehu
Nigerians are suffering at this worsening situation and they need to see some changes about the bad happenings of this country because “when anger rises think of the consequences “ and we’re not praying for something bad to happen in this situation.
In a country like Nigeria, “citizens” safety on any route should be guaranteed. But reverse is the case. You could imagine one of the means of transportation (rail), which is said to be safest, bombed by these beasts in human clothing (bandits). Passengers whisked away for ransom. Others lost their lives, among which is Dr. Chinelo.
Dr. Chinelo is a young Nigerian who had all the plans for a good life and was even billed to fly out of the Country, the Friday (1st April) after the attack. Dr. Chinelo among many victims came under heavy gunfire by the terrorists. She succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.
All that the Government cared about was to rush into issuing a statement to the effect that the train was secured within minutes and no cause for alarm. But the videos that later surfaced from the attack are too gory to watch.
Hmmm! Abuja-Kaduna roads are now death traps. Citizens can no longer travel by air, rail and even road in Kaduna State. What knocks your mind is not even the fear of accident. It is the fear of being bombarded or kidnapped. The freedom of movement in Kaduna State is now taken by terrorists who are now in charge.
People cannot longer move about freely in search of livelihood. Hunger is really pervasive and crime has peaked. The masses are caught up in this quagmire. They are trapped and holed in one place.
These terrorists are not ghosts. They are known. Their camps are also known. They can be fetched out! The Federal Government should re-strategies. It should deploy security personnel’s well equipped with sophisticated weapons just like these bandits, and secure the Abuja- Kaduna rail way in order for travellers who choose the Rail means of transportation (which used to be safe), to board in peace and get to their destinations without panic or fear.
The worst part of it is that the federal government did not put any measure or set about to tackle the menace and the issue is rising almost everyday in this country. When will Nigerians be safe? A lot are happening in this country and we’re tired of the situation we need a great Nigeria of our dream.
This country has been plagued with numerous challenges among which are corruption, bad governance, poverty, unemployment and other social vices but the solution to solving such problems depends largely on the security and the unity of this great country. Because if we come together as one we can be able to fish out our problems and overcome them by God grace.
Nigerians are suffering at this worsening situation and they need to see some changes about the bad happenings of this country because “when anger rises think of the consequences “ and we’re not praying for something bad to happen in this situation.
The other part of it is that, we don’t use to see changes rather we see condolences messages being written on social media by the media aids of the president. Which is sort not to happen in that way.
Therefore, as a matter of urgency we call unto the authorities in charge and the federal government to pleases and bring and end to this menace if not only for the sake of anything but for the sake of the electorates that voted for this government.
