It’s a milestone for APC, Akpabio speaks on Monday Okpebholo’s emergence as Edo governor-elect

The President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, has described the emergence of Sen. Monday Okpebholo as governor-elect of Edo as a milestone for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Akpabio congratulated Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, on their “hard-fought, but well-deserved victory in the Edo State governorship election” in a statement provided by his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Eseme Eyiboh.

According to Akpabio, the election resulted in a win for the state as a whole, not only for the APC.

“This triumph is a testament to Sen. Okpebholo’s tireless efforts and commitment to the people of Edo.

“As a seasoned politician and senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District, Okpebholo has consistently demonstrated his ability to drive positive change and progress.

“His victory is a significant milestone for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a clear indication of the people’s trust in his leadership,” the statement quoted him as saying.

Akpabio, therefore, advised Okpebholo to continue his good works to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach all corners of the state.

He called on the people of Edo to rally behind their new governor and accord him all the support he would need to be able to move the state forward.

Akpabio expressed confidence that Okpebholo and Idahosa would be good ambassadors of the National Assembly serving senators and honourable members respectively.

He further expressed the hope that they would build on the progress made so far to take Edo to greater heights.

The President of the Senate urged the duo to be magnanimous in victory by extending their hands of fellowship to every Edo person with the value needed for the development of the state no matter their affiliations.

According to Akpabio, with the election victory already secured, the task ahead is enormous and will require all hands to be on deck.

“I, therefore, urge you to take deliberate actions to unite the state and attract development to transform the state,” transformation.
