JUST IN: Lagos monarch, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka dies after Eid prayers

He declared that the dead king would be buried in accordance with Islamic customs by 4 p.m. “I have been instructed by Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to formally announce the passing of Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, Adeola Olushi III, the paramount ruler of Isolo Kingdom, today, April 10, 2024,” the statement said. Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, the Osolo of Isolo in Lagos State, has passed away.

Opinion Nigeria learned that the monarch passed away on Wednesday, not long after participating in the Eid prayers.

In a statement that our correspondent was able to view, Olasoju Adebayo, the Chairman of the Isolo Local Council Development Area, acknowledged his passing.

He declared that the dead king would be buried in accordance with Islamic customs by 4 p.m. “I have been instructed by Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to formally announce the passing of Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, Adeola Olushi III, the paramount ruler of Isolo Kingdom, today, April 10, 2024,” the statement said. He was 64 years old.

“He will be buried today by 4pm at his palace, 3/5 Akinbaye Street, Isolo, according to Islamic rites. May his soul rest in peace.”

Olasoju, however, did not disclose the cause of his death.

The monarch spent 20 years on the throne.
