There is no need for anyone to be a slave in his/her own country. It’s not by force to be existing under “unity in diversity”. Nigerians were never one and will never be one. We all knew it ! since we went through elementary subjects of history (National values or Social studies). Faking and faking can not change our history. If the citizens can’t appreciate their similarities and respect the differences, what is the benefit of forcing themselves to be united by all means? Even the nature differentiated us and God created us divergently. The charlatan unity is an obstruction to our development as people.

Nigeria as a sovereign nation with individuals of different beliefs and cultures, norms and traditions, joined together by the colonizers was never for the betterment of Nigerians at all. The amalgamation of Northern and southern protectorates was glued to ease exploitation and effective administration of the colonizers. And it happened over hundred years ago. So why must it continue if people are not okay with it?

Even from the on set, the amalgamation was not easy. Many Emirs in the North rejected it paid the price with their precious lives. Same incidence in the south, where Ijemo massacre took place for a similar reason. The Eastern part was not left out, as there was Egba rebellions. It was imposed and founded on bloodshed, neither for peace nor development of Nigerians.

If you look at the trend again, the history is just repeating itself. The only people that are united in the country are politicians. They speak with a single voice to achieve a common goal. which is administration and looting the national treasury. Only the vulnerable are at war with each other.

The rationale for us to be on our separate ways is for peace. Hatred is growing rapidly into people’s hearts and fire of vengeance is burning within. Many jubilate and celebrate when others from other ethnic suffer. Name callings, curses and insults are history of the day. Calamity to befall others is the wishes of others against others, openly or inspirit. Despite the college degrees and religious knowledge, some choose to debase themselves down to the lowest level of ignorance and they don’t mind being inhuman.

For these to stop, let all regions seek for self determination, Instead of unleashing terror against each other.
