Yesterday, 15th June 2022, Israel signed a deal with the European Union to supply Europe gas from this year until 2050. In and of itself, this is a major development because, as I have stated in more than one past article, Israeli gas is a whole lot cheaper than Russian gas; so this is a win-win for both parties. I have also stated before in a previous article that Israel will be transporting this gas to Europe through Egypt. No doubt, this was why today’s agreement between the EU and Israel was signed in Cairo, the capital city of Egypt. Egypt is a stakeholder in this international agreement that will not only make Israel an energy superpower but will put billions of dollars in Israel’s pocket and also give Israel desperately needed leverage in achieving its foreign policy objectives. This leverage will be because more nations (especially the block of nations represented by the European Union) will now HAVE TO tread softly when dealing with Israel. But why was this agreement signed today? Why now? I will try to summarize how we got here.

When he was President of the United States, Donald Trump voiced his displeasure over the fact that Europe was buying natural gas from Russia, a supposed strategic enemy of both Europe and the United States . For those who may not know, it is the United States that protects Europe and you will find major US military bases scattered all over Europe for this very reason. The main strategic enemy of Europe is Russia and Trump rightly felt that it was odd for American money and American military power to be protecting Europe while the same Europe was patronizing Russia: in other words, making Russia richer and more powerful. Germany has the largest economy in Europe and a lot of influence in the EU. So it did not come as a surprise that Trump decided to express his displeasure over this issue to then German Chancellor Angela Markel. As I have also stated in a previous post, Trump told Merkel that he was not happy with Russia’s significant role in meeting Europe’s natural gas demand and that Europe should stop the patronage of Russian gas. When Merkel asked Trump where he expected them to get gas from, Trump pointed Merkel to Israel, which had already discovered gas by this time. As everybody knows, Donald Trump is literally the most pro-Israel President the US has ever had. Not only did he issue a presidential proclamation recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Trump recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights and made his administration the worst enemy Iran has ever had because Iran is an enemy of Israel. Trump also applied the most punitive sanctions on Iran ever, which has so wrecked their economy you now need over 320,000 Iranian rials just to get one US dollar. It’s that bad. Trump did a lot of other things for Israel and wanted Europe to patronize Israeli gas to empower Israel economically. But that did not happen.

Many uninformed people would wish for a clone of Donald Trump to lead their country — if only they knew what he did for America. In just 4 short years, Trump made America energy-independent. That means that America was able to produce all the crude oil they needed. As a matter of fact, they had enough to even export. Not many people are also aware that Trump did not initiate any new war all through his 4 years in power. He had to fight ISIS, but that war began during the Obama days. In dealing with North Korea, Trump deftly used the carrot-and-stick approach by threatening to destroy North Korea with nuclear weapons. And he sent nuclear-armed B2 bombers to fly over North Korea to validate that threat. But while issuing this threat, Trump was also working on a Summit with Kim, the President of North Korea. Trump’s strategy worked and North Korea did not conduct a missile test (nuclear or non-nuclear) for the remainder of Trump’s time as President. In spite of Trump killing over 300 Russian Wagner mercenaries in Syria also, Russian President, Vladimir Putin, kept his cool as long as Trump was US President. These mercenaries (as I stated, again, in an earlier article) are usually ex Russian soldiers who take on risky military missions for Putin so as to give him what diplomats refer to as “plausible deniability”. That is to say, even if everybody knows that the Wagner group fights for Vladimir Putin, if things go really bad, he can publicly disown them and say they are not Russian soldiers and that he did not send them. Unfortunately, since Joe Biden became America’s President, things have changed drastically. Not only has North Korea been testing all sorts of missiles virtually every other week, Russia has finally invaded Ukraine and is now openly flexing muscles with the US. As explained in an earlier post, Russia’s decision to invade Ukraine was enhanced by the very strange decision of Joe Biden to waive the sanctions Donald Trump had imposed on Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project. Trump imposed those sanctions (following a bill sponsored by Republic Senator Ted Cruz) as a way of preventing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine because experts on the matter believed that Putin was not going to invade Ukraine without a second pipeline. And that pipeline was Nord Stream 2.

Whether intended or not, one of the consequences of the Russia-Ukraine war is that Russia is now punishing Europe and trying to arm-twist them by using its gas advantage. This is what has resulted in Europe now willing to follow the advice of Donald Trump, which is to patronize Israeli gas. Europe has finally signed a deal with Israel for Israel to fill up the void and supply them gas. Cheaper gas for that matter. Anyone reading this will readily understand that Russia will be terribly annoyed with Israel at this time because this deal between Israel and Europe will make Russia unable to arm-twist Europe. And that is bad news for Russia, which wants Europe to stop supplying Ukraine weapons. Add to this lose of leverage caused by Israel the fact that Russia is now right next door to Israel (in Syria) and has about 10000 soldiers on the ground scattered in 12 military bases. These bases are armed with state-of-the-art Russian war planes, warships, a variety of military equipment and all sorts of missiles — including the S300 and the S400 anti aircraft systems. To make matters worse, Israel has been stepping up attacks on Iranian targets inside Syria, as if they no longer mind that Russia is right there in Syria. Just this week, Israel boldly destroyed the Damascus international airport. Not only has the runway of that airport been damaged, the radar system that controls the takeoff and landing of planes has also been destroyed. This radar was manufactured by Russia and will take some time to be fixed. No wonder that airport has been shut down by the government of Syria . As I have been saying, it is now only a matter of time before Russia makes the decision to attack Israel. As far as the situation on ground now is in view, the countdown to the Ezekiel 38 Russia-led invasion of Israel has officially begun. According to the 2500-year-old prophecy, this invasion will be by Russia in league with 4 other nations — Iran, Libya, Turkey, and Sudan.

Questions To Ponder

If not God that told him, how did Ezekiel know that, sometime after Israel’s dispersion in AD70, they will return to the promised land, they will become independent, they will become successful, they will acquire an economic advantage that will interest Russia, and will eventually be attacked by 5 nations led by Russia? Quite remarkably, the prophet signified that this “latter times” attack will be for economic reasons, for he mentioned that Russia and co will be coming to take spoil. How did Ezekiel know that Israel will possess an economic resource (natural gas) at a time that Russia was the dominant global power in that same resource, making Israel an economic competitor to Russia? How did Ezekiel know that Russia will be near Israel (in Syria) at the time that all these things are happening?

Note the factors that had to came together to allow for the current scenario:

An American President secretly in support of Iran (and secretly an enemy of Israel) needed to come to power and agree to sign the Iran nuclear deal in 2015. That American President was Barack Hussein Obama. The deal he signed is important in the buildup to this current scenario because it was that deal that gave Russia the guts to suddenly return to the Middle East, after about 30 years of being away from the region. It is true that General Quassam Suleimani (Commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps) visited Putin in Moscow and asked him to help stabilize the regime of Syrian President Basshar Assad. Assad was about to lose the raging civil war in his country by this time. But it is also on record that Putin did not move his forces into Syria until 3 days after the signing of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. My take is that the deal proved to Putin that the Obama administration had betrayed Israel and would not react to Russia’s return to the Middle East and to a country next door to Israel.

Far from news analysis, this article is a warning to everyone that the end of human probation is at hand. The effect of what is going on in the Middle East right now is so powerful on me because I got to know about the Ezekiel 38 war prophecy several years ago. This was when Israel had not discovered natural gas; when Russia apparently had no reason to want to go to the Middle East; when the Iran nuclear deal had not being signed; and when the world was a lot different from what it has become today. At the time I got to know about the Ezekiel 38 war, students of prophecy (in speculating about what will entice Russia to the Middle East) believed that it was the natural resources in Israel’s Dead Sea that will be the hook in Russia’s jaw; Ezekiel 38:4. Israel’s Dead Sea holds humongous amounts of magnesium sulphate and other choice minerals required in the production of fertilizer. In fact, it is the disproportionate presence of these mineral salts in the Dead Sea that is responsible for it being dead.

However, beginning from 2015, things began to happen one after the other to prove that it will be Israeli gas that will entice Russia and I’m willing to believe that Israel’s gas discovery may have been part of Russia’s calculation in returning to the Middle East. Still, things were not clear before the Russia-Ukraine war. Who would have known that Europe will sanction Russia in support of Ukraine and that, in retaliating, Russia will refuse to sell gas to Europe, forcing Europe to patronize Israel and provoking Russia to then turn around and attack Israel? Who would have predicted this turn of events just 10 months ago? But Ezekiel 38/39 accurately predicted the climax of this situation without explaining the buildup, which we are now witnessing.

This world will come to an end — whether or not you believe it or want it or understand it. These prophecies were given so that intelligent children of God will have the advantage of knowing these things before they occur. This knowledge will strengthen their faith in God and help keep their minds in peace when things begin to seem like no one is in control and that we are witnessing cosmic anarchy.
