Manchester United and the Cameroonian FA have reached an amicable agreement for Andre Onana to report to the African Cup of Nations with Cameroon after the match against Tottenham Hotspur.

The 27-year-old Cameroon international, per the Athletic, will now be able to participate in United’s FA Cup third-round match against Wigan Athletic on Monday, before hosting Tottenham Hotspur six days later at Old Trafford.

Onana will then leave immediately for the tournament in Ivory Coast, where he will be available to represent his country against Guinea in the first match on January 15.

While the Red Devils are keen to respect their player’s desire to represent his country at the tournament, the special agreement is thought to be in light of an earlier understanding that Onana would not feature for Cameroon at AFCON.

During the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Onana left the Cameroon camp before their tournament exit in the thick of an incendiary falling out with Song.

However, the federation FECAFOOT, led by Samuel Eto’o, is said to have spent time repairing relations and pushing Onana to return to international competition.
