Mind Restructuring: Excellent Mind And The Burden Of Reprobate Mind -By Richard Odusanya
It is our mindsets towards materialism, consumption, unproductiveness and lack of due diligence that makes a supposedly super power nation with all the resources both natural and human par capita that is available to her by the benevolence of God, turned into a nation officially designated as the headquarters of extreme poverty globally. It is our mindsets rather than believing in luck. The mind is critical to success in all ramifications.

The mind is the set of faculties responsible for mental phenomena. When discussing the mind, many things readily comes to mind…basically, there are six types of human minds– joy oriented mind, love oriented mind, hate oriented mind, fear oriented mind, boredom oriented mind and destructive oriented mind. The worst of them all is the destructive mind; it is deadly and ruthless; it is self-centred and careless; it is nepotistic and not bothered about fairness doctrine; it is sadistic and uncharismatic.
They are also closely related to; the conscious mind, the subconscious mind, and the unconscious mind. In Unity and Faith, when we talk about consciousness, we refer to sum total of the three phases of minds: conscious, subconscious and super conscious. So the idea of unity in diversity, when fully actuated engenders love, peace and tranquility plus sizeable amount prosperity. It also teaches us about living in harmony with each other in respective of tribe, region or religion.
The mind is the engine room of life; it is like a computer, whatever you feed into it, is the output and results that will be available. “Keep your mind diligently, all issues of life..” Unity is strength… where there is unity there is always victory. A nation that protects its unity in diversity, are usually victorious and battle ready. The results of the Olympics medals is a classic example of such. We can all see it in numbers of golds won by nations like United States of America, China and others. Nigeria our beloved country, the sleeping giant and the most populous nation in the continent of Africa could not bring back home one gold.
Somebody will say, it is as a result of poor leadership, capital No! it is the function of Mindset towards the issues of life and nation-building; it is about an average Nigerian mindset that is tailored towards continuous backwardness and justification for lukewarmness; it is about all of us, the enablers of the “LOOTING BRIGADE”; it is about Personal aggrandizement, self-centred mentality and individuals accomplishment.
Still on the issue of the mind, very recently I was ruminating about the types of characters that emerged from within us as leaders. My mind raced back to one of the articles of Prof Farooq kperogi, where he said: “I, have an abiding suspicion of people who are given to gratuitous self-congratulation and ostentatious lifestyle. Who are aggressively self-promotional and who perpetually have a need to invite attention to witness their good deeds.”- voice from Atlanta. It was further validated by the way the London Economist editorial classified us as a people in it’s recent editorial captioned “The rise and fall of Maj Gen Muhammadu Buhari RTD”- it was a sad realities of who we are gullible people.
It is important to note that; vibrant citizenry and good leadership is the only way out of the current situation that we find ourselves as a nation. Materialistic and flawed mindset will further take us down the hill. There’s a chance to rebuild Nigeria; we need a new NORMAL; we need a paradigm shift; we need to rejuvenate our thoughts and minds. As a nation destined for greatness we should never be seen promoting individuals, instead we should henceforth begin to build strong INSTITUTIONS that will outlived all of us. No more “Sai baba’s; no more sai ngozi; no more say Adesina; no more Abba Kyari; no more sai Hushpuppi and the Cubano group.
We can do it, it is all about mindset, it is doable. There is a saying that: “If you don’t heal what hurt you you’ll bleed on people who didn’t cut you. It is our considered opinion that we need to reengineer our thoughts and minds. NIGERIA WILL BE GREAT AGAIN.
