The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has entered the knockout phase, and attention turns to Nigeria after the Super Eagles completed a perfect group-stage campaign.

Having topped Group C with nine points from three victories, Nigeria has secured a spot in the Round of 16, where they will face Mozambique, who finished third in Group F.

While the group stages are over, Nigeria’s journey toward the final in Rabat on January 18, 2026, is only beginning.

Round of 16
As winners of Group C, Nigeria will take on Mozambique in the Round of 16. A victory will see the Super Eagles progress to the quarter-finals, keeping their hopes of AFCON glory alive.

Quarter-final
Should Nigeria defeat Mozambique, their next opponent would be the winner of the clash between Algeria, Group E winners, and DR Congo, Group D runners-up.

Semi-final
A quarter-final win could set up a semi-final against the winners of Morocco versus Tanzania, who will face the winner of South Africa against Group F runner-up Cameroon. Possible semi-final opponents include Morocco, Tanzania, South Africa, or Cameroon.

Final
If Nigeria reaches the final in Rabat, they could face a team from the opposite side of the bracket, potentially including Senegal, Mali, Tunisia, Egypt, Benin, Burkina Faso, Sudan, or Ivory Coast.
