Nigerian promotion of madness: An abysmal threshold for the present and future generations -By Mustapha Sulyman Oluwatofunmi

Nigeria, a well blessed country known for her diverse beauties and resources. Talking of resources, Nigeria is blessed with countless resources among which are; natural resources, mineral resources, environmental resources and the top notch of all is human resources. These resources are identified and appreciated even by whole world. The human resources is what is most appreciated as without human resources, all other resources would be left un-sprouted absolutely.

Indubitably, Nigerians are talented and always excel in all ramifications anywhere in the world; academically, industrially and in general businesses. However, in recent times, all the talents have been knocked down and discouraged as promotion of another thing has been debuted, erupted and adopted. We are no more appreciating and promoting productive gifts and intelligences. We have suppressed and destabilized the supposed ‘growing talents’ and continued to foster and advance ignominious exhibition.

In the area of music, in the past the musicians were known for their Music-Messages-Lessons as their releases always come with intelligence and derived-thoughts. You listen to them and you learn in fact, some music were just like revelations especially in relation to country palavers. However, it’s pitiful today that, our so-called musicians have turned upside down. The concoction of music has become what can be termed ‘nonsense’ as it continues to brainstorm the coming young talented ones. What are they passing across through the music now?

Well, is it their fault?

Let’s check ourselves including government.

Like I said earlier, no encouragement is available for the intelligence and the larger blame is discovered to be from our government. Government is not aiding neither applauding the displayed talents and expertise from the younger ones as anytime such is trended, no appreciative gesture from the government. But, let come out the nuisances from the lackluster performance by a dunderhead, within a moment, encouragement would come with donations from government and individuals.

In the same vein, we, the so-called individuals are helping so much on this issue be it deliberately or otherwise by trending and sharing all such of madness and meaningless cases.

Zazoo as a case study. What’s the definition of Zazoo? I believe, even the singer and promoter can not give the meaningful definition if interviewed but rather a purported one. Yet, within few days the guy has become a star and a millionaire for a shameful display. Not only shameful but also pestilential and we are also happy, celebrating and adopting the gibberish. What’s wrong with us? what’s the value of education in us?

Take that of now popular Mummy G.O too for another instance, for the past few weeks now people have been promoting her blabbering. Very soon now another one will debut.

This has continued to affect the society negatively as young ones who are supposed to discover and hone their area of talents have also seen this vile display as a way or a rung to personality. It has brainwashed them to the larger level that, they no longer value education and term it ‘scam’ because they believe that, eventually, education is no more a promotional material.

What are we doing to ourselves?
In a simple term, we are only digging for ourselves and coming generations a dungeon that will consume everyone if we don’t change our *WAYS*. What we are supposed to stand against, we have continued sitting down to embrace it. Well, I can say that we still have the opportunity to expiate, mend and adjust things because it’s not too late now.

Let’s contribute in our different capacities and promote skills that will elevate ourselves and dear country and neglect the behavioral problems that will end us in a pit of pity. Let’s showcase that there’s total difference between madness and nonsense.
Let’s stop applauding and cheering the attitudes considered to be absurd and lugubrious. A stitch in time saves nine!
