On Hon. Ajilesoro And N320m 2020-2022 Reimbursements For Constituency Projects… -By John Oyebanji

I just got off the call with a longtime friend, who asked about the degree of certainty to which I made known the amount of money totalling three hundred and twenty million naira given as reimbursements for Constituency projects in Ife Federal Constituency.

If you think I speak with such authority, I do, for posterity, not political, as a means of demanding accountability from who I defied odds to elect. I will afford the people of Ife East, Ife Central, Ife South and Ife North Local Governments that made up Ife Federal Constituency an awareness, for what’s right.

I have often asked myself, “what exactly can we show for this humongous amount in the LGs that made up the constituency?”

In 2020, three different projects were awarded to the office of the current occupant, and they include:

1. Supply of Empowerment Materials in Ife Federal Constituency at 34 million naira (from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation)
2. Entrepreneurship Grant for market women in Ife East and Central LGAs at 40 million naira (from the Ministry of Trade and Investment)
3. Grants for Youth to start up micro-business in Ife North and South LGAs at 50 million naira (from the Ministry as (2) above).

In 2021, another three projects were awarded, namely:

1. Supply of Empowerment Materials for women in Ife Federal Constituency at 32 million naira (from the office of the SGF)
2. Grant for Small Scale Businesses in Ife Central and Ife North Local Government Areas, at 46 million naira (from the Ministry of Trade and Investment)
3. Grant for Small Scale Businesses in Ife East and Ife South Local Government Areas, at 46 million naira (from the Ministry as (2) above).

In 2022, to the best of my awareness, two projects were awarded, which are:

1. Sensitization and Capacity Building in Cosmetology and Bead Making in Ife Federal Constituency, at 52 million naira, and
2. Supply and Installation of Transformers in Ife Federal Constituency at 20 million naira (from the office as (1) above).

A summation of these amounts should give you an authoritative answer.

He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. Every representative deserve to uphold probity as well as accountability.

You can make of whatever with this information. Does he deserve re-election? I think bulk of this depends on how fulfilled these projects were, and their sustainability. In the end, the people decides. May we choose aright.
