On Jigawa State Floods Disaster -By Ibrahim Sani

We humbly appealed to the director general of NEMA, who happens to be a Jigawa state indigene,  to come up with  realistic pathways that will mitigate the future occurrence of such a disaster.

Flooding in my state of Origin, Jigawa. Hadejia is the second largest emirate in the whole of Jigawa after Dutse (the state capital), and it was gravely ravaged by floods.

It will take only a man with a coal heart not to be perturbed by the situation in the state.

The flooding has adversely affected the state in so many ways. Crops, roads linking the villages and cities were all washed away. Sick people, children and the older ones looking for hideouts because their houses and everything was rampaged by the disaster. The information we have gathered so far; and the situation suggest that; this is beyond the government alone.

Business people and inter-sectoral collaborations should take part in this trying time.

It is high time we should start acting, as action speaks louder than words. Let’s synergize and help with a very positive solution. We need palliatives to alleviate the sufferings. We need drugs, foods and medical equipment for the sick individuals among the victims, because almost all their crops and the clinics were destroyed by the flooding. This is where the State and Federal can play and influential role by providing every sort of assistance needed to alleviate the victims and cushioned them.

We also appreciate the good people that helped us with money, raw and cooked foods, empty sacks, bread and other stuff worth thousands of money. We are very grateful for this your kindness! We are still soliciting your support to get things from the state, national and international bodies, organisations, and agencies
