On Osinachi Nwachukwu’s Case (The Solution of the Catholic Church) -By David Okolie

The Catholic Church has a well established law on such alternative which is technically called SEPARATION; but sadly, not many Catholics know about it. However, the case of Osinachi has offered us a platform to remind ourselves what we ought to know.

I have read with utmost concern the many posts on the sudden demise of Osinachi. Based on the above, many persons have and are still recommending DIVORCE in the face of Domestic Violence. But would that be the best solution? Do you really think that it is easy to bear the shame of going back to your father’s house after some months/years of marriage?

Well, the truth is that the stigma of divorce is so much such that not many women would like to face that.

But, is there any other alternative to divorce? YES, there is!

The Catholic Church has a well established law on such alternative which is technically called SEPARATION; but sadly, not many Catholics know about it. However, the case of Osinachi has offered us a platform to remind ourselves what we ought to know.

Please, whenever you begin to find your marriage unbearable as a result of Violence or Adultery, do not die in silence. Simply notify your parish priest and let him know that you want Separation. If he is delaying about it, kindly move to your Cathedral and request to be taken to the MARRIAGE TRIBUNAL. Whereby it is difficult to have access to the above options, kindly SEPARATE yourself from the man/woman and then try re-accessing the Marriage Tribunal while you are now alone. The above moves would primarily save your life and possibly your marriage too. Just take a look at what the Canon Law (The Law of the Catholic Church) says about the above:

👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽
“A spouse who occasions grave danger of soul or body to the other or to the children, or otherwise makes the common life unduly difficult, provides the other spouse with a REASON to LEAVE, either by a decree of the local Ordinary or, if there is danger in delay, even on his or her own authority. In all cases, when the reason for SEPARATION CEASES, the common conjugal life is to be restored, unless otherwise provided by ecclesiastical authority” (Cf. Can. 1153 §1,2, also: 1151, 1152, 1154, 1155).

Finally, dearest friends, try your best to build and sustain your marriage on TRUE CHRISTIAN LOVE and not on the illusory attractions of Money, Beauty, Fame, Sex, etc.

Rest in Peace, dear Osinachi🙏🏽
