Open Letter to Wealthy Individuals In our Society -By Abdullahi Ridwan Asude

It’s an indisputable fact that the God who created us always does good and only fool harebrained people, and unbelievers would believe God is wicked and cruel. You are supposed to ask me the reason I made this statement, notwithstanding, whether you like it or not, I will surely explain it in this piece of write up for better understanding.

The God that created you to be an affluent person and well-endowed individual in your society know the reason ‘why’ he has given you this money, but one of the most important things to use the money for is to help the needy and poor individual in your society.

Why do we always forget to help others when you are just opportune to be rich among your counterparts? Have you forgotten the Yoruba proverb which says “Oke Oke Lowo Afunni n gbe.” which entails that givers shall never lack.

O you the opportunists, the influential and the dignitaries in our society, why do we keep the notion or believe that when we become rich, we would not use the money to assist others because you don’t want your money to decrease. But, what you don’t understand is that if you don’t spend the money in your possession, another money wouldn’t enter and you are nothing but a stingy person who doesn’t want to render any benefit for his/her Society. You forget to assist others, you forsake them and abandoned them because they are not opportune to be rich.

Let’s come to think of it, It’s irrational to compare human beings with Animal and the only unique difference between them is sense. Even though, it’s the characteristics of Animals to forget home and not return back home till the end of his/her life.

Human beings are different from Animals because of privilege given to us by the Creator which are: the sense and power of communication. The Creator that endowed us with these qualities has a reason to do that and the rationale behind it is to think as human beings in order to know what’s right and wrong.

Furthermore, why do you ignore your families, relatives, and human beings like you who are in need of what is in your possession to sustain their life during this Covid-19? Why don’t you want to be
helpful to them? Why did you refuse to hear their agony and distress?

The God that created us has encouraged us to help the needy, orphans, widows, less privileged individuals in our society because it would serve as a benefit and everlasting blessing for the person in this life and hereafter. Give out what God has given you, don’t put all the burden on the government since you have what it take to help the people in your community.

Don’t be a bird which has no benefit for its relatives, the only thing that bird knows about is to be flying around the world, but we cannot blame the birds because they lack the brain and sense which God has given to human being, then behaving like a bird when God has given you given a sense of belonging to be different from them is so disgraceful and disgusting.

Let me refer you to the concept of “Binary Opposition” propounded by the great Scholar ‘Plato’. Plato is one of the political Philosophers and Scholars in the field of Literature. The concept which was propounded in his book entitled “The Republic” he said and I quote.

“God has created in two numbers, that’s word and opposite when we have up, we will have down, left and right, boy and girl, male and female and we have rich and poor.”

I am using this medium to advise the affluence of today to help the poor and the needy, this is because you don’t know what will happen tomorrow. If you are given out your money to the people, God will surely increase your wealth and shower his blessings on you.

It’s a big shame if you possess wealth but you can’t take little out of it to help others, you abandoned them thinking that your money would keep decreasing, the bitter truth is that they cannot bury you with that money, but what will be your gain in your grave is what you have spent for the needy and poor people in your society.

On a final note, the present Covid19 that the world is battling could only be solved by prayer, the poor should pray for the rich and the rich should help their families, relatives, and indigent individual in our dear country.
