Police officers injures, many abducted, as bandits attack Bwari community

Suspected bandits reportedly attacked Zuma community in Bwari Area Council of the FCT on Wednesday morning, injuring two policemen and kidnapping several persons.

Sources said the two police officers were injured during a confrontation between the bandits and the police to repel the criminals and secure the people and properties of the area.

The affected officers are said to have been taken to the hospital, while the whereabouts of the unidentified kidnapped residents are unknown.

There have been reports of several kidnappings in the area following bandit attacks on Garam community in Niger State, which shares a boundary with Bwari community in the FCT.

In one of the reported incidents, the wife of the Redeemed Christian Church of God pastor was said to have been killed.

The woman was said to have slumped and died of heart failure when bandits called her line and told her they were in the custody of her husband and two children of 7 and 9 years who had been missing for several days and demanded ransom of several millions of naira.

A man described as NEPA staff, i.e., Abuja Electricity Distribution Company staff, was unlucky as bandits reportedly broke into his house and forcefully kidnapped him, his wife, and Nephew and escaped with them on motorcycles into the bush.

All efforts to get the police authorities, including the Force Public Relations Office and the FCT Police Command, as well as the Defence headquarters, to respond to the attacks and what the security agencies are doing to address the attacks proved abortive, as text messages were not responded to and calls were not going through.
