The staff members of the Gombe State Environmental Protection Agency stormed the Gombe State Government House in protest of alleged three months of unpaid wages.

Our correspondent reports that the protesters were seen walking from the Terminus Roundabout to the Government House with placards and green leaves.

In April 2022, a similar protest occurred, where the cleaners claimed that they were being owed aside rumour that they would be replaced under new management, adding that they were, before the latest arrangement, short-changed by their previous management.

Some of the workers, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, claimed Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, in his recent media chat, claimed to have released all pending payments.

“For over three months we have not been working without our pay, we have wives, children, and bills to pay. It is not true that we have been paid as claimed by Governor Yahaya,” the protesters disclosed.

On his part, The General Manager, GOSEPA, Muhammad Kumo, who refused to issue an official statement, arrived almost immediately and tried to quell the protest.
