Re: APC should Present People with Proven Integrity into various Leadership Positions — Adesanya-Davies commends PDP -By Harrison Nwachukwu

Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA) Presidential Candidate in 2019, a presidential hopeful under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for 2023 election, Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya- Davies has supported an appeal by Dr. Kura to all political parties in Nigeria, advising them to strengthen the nation’s democratic experience by presenting people with proven integrity into various leadership positions of their parties.

A frontline civil society activist, Dr. Kabir Hamisu Kura has specifically warned party leaders, especially APC and PDP to be wary of electing persons with questionable characters, to fill the leadership position of their parties.

The activist who is the Executive Director of Community Development Initiative, CDI gave this warning in Kano in response to a recent publication in the media that some APC governors are lobbying the President to have a consensus candidate for the Chairmanship of the ruling party among them.
Reacting to the publication, Kura frowned at such move which he described as sinister, undemocratic and a repeat of the ugly pasts.

Added that, “We are tired of recycling same old politicians that have occupied the space for too long, and to the detriment of the people. We must demonstrate our readiness for change. In his words, he quoted Albert Einstein as saying “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. This is what the world needs and Nigerians are watching.”

The governors he said are largely responsible for myriad of the nation’s problems today as we see daily their efforts to truncate democratic dividends. The recent electoral bill that took so much time to this point is the behind-the-scene manoeuvring of these governors, he added.

While commending the People’s Democratic Party, PDP for electing a younger person into the party’s leadership structure, he urges APC, being the ruling party to emulate them and elect a younger politician with no tainted record to lead them. This he added, is the current trend worldwide and Nigeria should not be an exception.

Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies also commending her party the PDP like Dr. Kabir Hamisu Kura reinstated that, “Nigerians cannot continue to recycle same old politicians that have occupied the space again and again to the detriment of the Nigerian nation and people; adding that, we shall continue to speak truth to the powers” re-quoting that, “If you stay out of politics, those who stay in politics will not stay out of your life.”- Dike Chukwumerije.

“Nigeria has so many people that are talented both at home and in diaspora and as such we need to allow new people to participate in governance especially the youths, in order to harness all the different brains and gifts God has given to our nation to manage our resources, without any form of continous monopoly of power”, she said.
