For the first time in history Mangu LGA, Plateau State is in a religious crisis. Before the crisis, when it comes to talking about peaceful co-existence, we used to give a mention of the community as the most peaceful across the entire state. But unfortunately, the narrative has now changed to the contrary.
If I can remember, it was yesterday, around between 7:40-8:00 o’clock dot, despite being it the state where I come from, the news of the ongoing crisis happened to come to my notice through a phone call with an elder sister who was in the community currently being fiercely eaten up by the crisis a few days before.
I had a persistent intention to pay a visit to some of our online news outlets in order that I could delve into the knowledge of some more information about the crisis, but checking my Data balance, I realized that I had already exhausted it, and given that the network was fluctuating, I decided I should wait until today.
However, as someone who was swamped in rigorous fear, thinking how grueling the situation would definitely be, I felt a “little” sense of relief instantly after listening to the TVC News Nigeria and reading from Crisis24 and Sahara Reporters this morning:
“.…Plateau State officials have implemented a 24-hour curfew in the Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) Jan. 23, citing a deterioration of security conditions in the region. Further details, including potential casualty figures, are unclear. Movement restrictions are in effect, except for security forces and personnel conducting essential duties. Officials may extend, remove, or amend the curfew without notice.

“.…Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has declared a 24-hour curfew on the Mangu Local Government Area of the state with immediate effect.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere.
He said the decision followed the deteriorating security situation in the area.
The statement read in part, “Governor Mutfwang took the decision after consultations with the relevant security agencies.
He stated that only persons on essential duties are allowed to move within the local government area until further notice.
He expressed his sympathy to the families of the victims and the injured and assured them that the government would not relent in ensuring lasting peace in the state.
He promised that the curfew would be reviewed as soon as the security situation improves”.
Lastly, I pray that God restores peace in the community, the state and, of course, the country at large.
